Its pretty sleepy here in ClassicLand!
Hey MINIxB,
I'm still keeping an eye out for inexpensive, cool 10" wheels for you. I think the Dunlaps that I mentioned a couple months ago are still available. I may get a chance to see them in person in the next week or so. I'll let you know how they look. Wow... I just noticed that I'm now an official 5th Gear NAM knucklehead!!!!!!!!!!

Hey MiniXB,
Taking snapshots is a great idea. The owner of these wheels lives near me, and within his family, he has three classic minis. One is a track only race car, another is an awesome road car with detachable front, (which he showed earlier this year at the All Brit show near KCI airport) and a MK1 restoration project. He invited me to come by and check out his garage and extra mini parts. He still has the like-new 10x6" MWS minilights mounted w/Yoko A008's available. (those wouldn't fit your car w/out mods) Who knows, I might buy those for my chipmunk hauler.
Is the bumble bee roadworthy? Are you out there terrorizing kids on the sidewalk with this toy?

Still no plates but I'm hoping these new choices won't be taken..
Yikes!
I say punt the vanity plates for now and get some at your local DMV office. Granted, it's been a decade since I registered my '59 Mercedes and times change, but I don't recall any wait for basic historic plates. Might be worth getting what's there on the shelf and later dealing with personalized options/headaches.

The green one definitely draws attention. It looks even sweeter in person, although it isn't as rust-free as I had hoped. Might need some help from Norm in a couple years.

Well I have a question, I have a 96 mini, I just got it last week and an 07 MCS. The syncros on the 96 are going, from the research Ive been doing I think 1st and 2nd are together? I dont know how hard it is to "do it yourself"? I would like to have the car down for as little time as possible. I was looking at MiniMania for tranny's and figure Ill be spending about a $1000, roughly. For a "daily driver" in germany, no long trips or anything( thats what the 07 is for) what kind of final gear should I go for? If I bought a new/refurbished tranny how hard is it to drop out and throw back in? Im pretty mechanically inclined but Ive always dealt with American Muscle cars, mainly automatics.
My main questions are, is it worth it to just take it to a shop even though its going to cost an arm and a leg? How hard is a tranny swap for someone to do themself?
Thanks for any help!
