Need good repair shop in Chicago area
Hey all, I posted the full story over on this thread but the short answer is I need a good, fair repair shop for my 2003 Mini. I hit a pothole and took it to Bill Jacobs, but they're quoting me $3,500 for all the damage to the strut mounts and subframe. I can't afford that, as insurance isn't covering it.
Anyone know of good shops for this kind of repair in the Chicago area?

It is. I only have comprehensive insurance. I couldn't afford the collision insurance on top of it. Geico's website conveniently only defines the differences in the vaguest terms; I had thought potholes were covered by comprehensive.
I'll never understand why if you hit a rock in the middle of the road, it's collision, while if you hit a rock that flew up from the road, that's comprehensive. Or how a shopping cart rolling into the road is collision, but an animal running into the road counts as comprehensive.
I've since switched to Progressive from Geico, which halved my deductible, added roadside assistance, and added collision coverage for about $25 less per month.

check out, http://www.autoxcooper.com/service_providers.html look for info about the shop I use, call him I think he can help you.
I have heard that as well. Make some calls. You may have to go take some pictures of the cave you drove into before hand and just stop in village hall. If it was on the highway you might have more of a fight with IDOT
1) City MIGHT cover part of the damage, but they rarely cover all of it and from what I've heard they put you through the ringer. You know, to make you give up so they don't have to fork over any fat loot! Fix the roads, jerks. Where is all of our toll money going? Hookers and clowns, that's where...
2) I have Country Insurance and couldn't be happier, maybe check them out. You are allowed to switch insurance companies mid policy without any penalty, FYI.
And as a random bonus:
3) You know how stores have the sign above their cart corrals that claim they are not liable for their carts hitting your car? Well, that is completely false and you can speak with a manager about them paying for the damage if it occurs. Your car was damaged on their private property by their property (the cart) and they are fully responsible.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not suit-happy. I think its disgusting the way people throw around law suits like its nothing and believe that they are entitled to whatever they want. BUT, I also hate when big companies use deceptive language and do not take responsibility for legit things.

should be a one-car collision.
