anyone driving to AMVIV?

90% sure we are going. Possibly with 2 teenage passengers.
4 up with a 6'3" primary driver for 1717 miles

First AMVIV, looking to caravan with someone. (Thought Phannarith was going but he's going back to DC area to get married )

Going to head out early A.M. on Tuesday the 25th, taking the basic google maps route out 88-80-76 to Denver then 70-15 into Vegas. Will probably stop somewhere overnight so as to not be dead tired when we hit Vegas. Maybe 1/2 or 3/4 of the way there.

I'll buy the first round of 99 cent margaritas at Bills for anyone in the caravan old enough to drink.

You might want to think about booking your hotel room. The event is still 4 months away and the group rate at Palace Station is already more than 1/2 sold.

You may want to have an alternate route planned also. Back in 1974 I got out of a class at Lowry AFB in Denver on Good Friday April 12th. I headed to Las Vegas via I-70 thru the Eisenhauser Tunnel. I had to 'chain up' and spent several hours waiting for traffic to clear. At that time I-70 was under construction. Just plan ahead.

Once you get to Denver, changing to an alternate route would cost you a lot of time. When I was driving my Mini back to Vegas from Cleveland, Streets & Trips wanted me to head south and take I40 through Texas instead of I70 through Denver. If you change early enough, it's a similar distance/time but changing your mind really late costs a lot of miles.

still not sure if we are going to able to make AMVIV this year, planning a wedding and all, but we went last year and drove from Detroit. we did it in a two day drive. first day to Denver, 23 hours of driving....while you have about 5 hours less than us to drive, i highly recommend driving it in three days. by the time i got there i was tired, after AMVIV i was really tired, the drive home wiped me out, only to be back in time for installs. and if you have 4 people in your car, the back seat people are not going to want to sit i the back for 18 plus hours. just something to think about. hope it helps. if we end up going, I'll let you know so we can hook up on the road.

Only 2 in the car for the trip so that will help. Both are drivers too so that will help. Leaving Chicago on the 24th staying somewhere along the way on the 25th and arriving in Vegas the 26th to get rested for the event.

Have a few routes planned depending on if Phannarith is just yankin my chain on selling his Mini.

Going: 80-70 if he is selling, or 55-70 if he isn't. (1717 miles/1891 miles respectively)

Alternate going routes if 70 is shot: 80-25-40 or 55-70-25-40, about 200 miles longer. (1991/2075 miles depending) I think we'd rather sit in traffic a couple hours.

Coming back: 40-44-55 and making 2 stops on the way back for a change of scenery. (1993 miles)

:::edit:::
probably going to order a helix short shifter and an m7 stb from you before the trip.

I might be heading out to vegas for the show... And to meet up with my gang from the Custom Mini Shop. Work is going to decide whether it's possible for me to go. But I figured I'd give you the heads up. I'd be coming from the Schaumburg / Hoffman Estates area.

**Hopefully you have a heavy right foot, I tend to push the limit......

If all goes well with work, I'm planning to make it to vegas in 1 1/2 days!!

I guess I'll start it here ... " the official SRICHS bail out fund drive " contributions will be accepted at the next several outings leading up to MOTD... that way you won't have that as an excuse not to go to MOTD this year

Rich, we will likely be heading down to StLouie to hook up with Phannarith who will be coming from DC. Planning on a 2 day drive taking it easy on the way with 80 likely to be the cruising speed.

Rich: I looked at the map (14 billionth time) St.Louis makes no sense mileage wise we'll be going out 80.
