Could someone in Chicago help me out?

Could someone near Downers Grove, IL take a look at a MCS for me? It looks good online but I'd like another Mini owner to look it over before I make the long trip. It's at World Class Motor Cars. Here is the link:
http://world-class-motorcars.ebizaut...s-2097262.html

PM me if you can help me out.

Thanks.

yikes - I just bought this car yesterday

Jay, I didn't discover this forum or your message until yesterday evening, immediately after I bought the MCS to which you referred in your message. Apparently it had been on the lot for a while (maybe 1.5 months), and the salesman said (after I bought it) that it was destined for auction in a couple of weeks. Sorry to buy it out from under you (if you were still interested). It wasn't my intention. Incidentally, I'm a transplant from NE KS myself (Olathe/Overland Park).

Other MCS shoppers take note - there's a Black w/black interior 2004 MCS down the road at Laurel Audi. It's a few hundred less, has a few more miles, and is nicely loaded with the 8 speaker HK, DSC, bluetooth, pano sunroof, 17" wheels, etc. The interior is a little rough (scuffs on some of the trip pieces in the boot and passenger compartment), but it's basically immaculate on the outside.

cheers,
bonmot

Hey Bonmot,

I drove that MCS for Jay and it rocked, great MSC for a great price. It's sucks that the salesman didn't keep his word. SOME people!

That's rather odd since I put a deposit on the car on Friday and have a receipt from the dealership that I am purchasing it. I even spoke to the salesman's manager and he approved the deal.

Jay,

I had no idea. The salesperson obviously made no reference to anyone having put a deposit on the vehicle when I bought it. Sorry my first mini came at your expense.

Hey Guys, you may want to limit the use of names to PM's. Just a thought.

The misunderstanding was completely my fault. I had been looking at online listings all day (and as a result was suffering from listing burnout), and when I saw a message about an MCS at this dealership, I assumed it was the one I just bought. Had I only clicked on the link, this whole thing would have been avoided.

End result: Jay's happy, I'm happy, and the dealer did nothing wrong. Everyone wins.

I'm disappointed. I was gonna suggest they play rock-paper-scissors to see who gets the car. Glad it worked out for both of you!

Me too, very happy to see that the dealership is one of it's word.

But it could be a good thing...

I am beginning to believe that "stealing," a car out from under someone else can be a good thing in the end. Long story short, someone else was going to buy my MINI before it was mine. I stole it out from under him. I meet him later and now we have the same car, cool. Today I got my oil changed, (he is my MINI service tech.) As I am walking out to the MINI to take off he stopped me and gave me a key to try in my car. He had the missing key, (I got 2 real keys with the car,) and one valet spare. He had the key in his possession when I bought the car. Now I have a 3rd real key and better I have a tech who is a friend all because I "stole" his car.

Hmmm....this would have made an interesting Wisdom of Solomon situation. Which one of you would have allowed the MINI to be cut in half to share with the other??

Glad it worked out for both of you and welcome to the MINI family! WOOHOO!!!

Thanks for the welcome and for busting my chops a little. It makes me feel at home.

I used to be a relatively active member of a forum called head-fi.org, dedicated to headphones and headphone amps. Their customary greeting is "welcome to head-fi... sorry about your wallet." I have a feeling that will be the case here too. I've already ordered a Euro Parcel Shelf, Glovebox organizer and a lightinsight. This is going to be an expensive hobby, and I"m still in my first week as a Mini owner.

Hey Bonmot, Welcome to Mod-Land... sorry about your wallet!

Once you start it's hard to stop the Mods. My encouragement is to do as much research as you can on NAM for any part/vendor you are thinking about before buying. You, like me, may also find what you want for sale on NAM from another member and save money for more mods.

Hope to see you at the CMMC R/C GP next month.

I changed my screen name to Jayhawk (being from Kansas and the fact that the KU football team is having a great year. Go Fatman!)

Many thanks to ChicagoMini for helping me with my MINI purchase. I drove it home yesterday and it made the 550 mile trip without a hitch. It runs strong, gas mileage is the same as my last MINI, no squeaks, rattles or wind noises and the heated seats worked great this mid 30's morning. I only regret that I wasn't able to meet him face-to-face. I hope that our paths cross at some MINI event soon. Thanks again, ChicagoMini.

Glad you made it home safely with your Mini, and that it was as expected. I'll be making the trip back to Kansas in my Mini around Turkey day and look forward to seeing how it will do on a long trip.

I'm a Jayhawk as well, and can't believe the gridiron guys are doing as well as they are this year. I may have to start paying more attention to football in addition to hoops.
