Swedish Motors
Anybody use Swedish Motors in Marietta, PA for MINI service?
If so, can you report on the quality and convenience?
They say they have MINI factory trained mechanics and parts, and they
sell used MINIs along with their Audis, Volvos and Saabs.
Now that I'm out of waranty, they're less than half the distance of MINI Of
Towson from me (and it would avoid the rush hour parking lot they
call I-83 between York and Balto).
Fortunately, I've needed very little service that required the dealer in
the last 6 1/2 years, but who knows what the future holds.

I was wondering the same thing. A mechanic that I work with mentioned them. He asked me where I get my mini serviced, like you I have been blessed with a worry free mini (knock on wood) Last time I check their website they had nothing pertaining to minis.
I had my mini to Jan's Bimmer Clinic to change my control arm bushings. I had mixed emotions when I left. Price was right, only $200 for the install (I bought the bushings) but my first impression was the garage was extremely cluttered. The shop, which was his house, has two bays with lifts. It felt tight pulling my mini in.. I picked my car up and drove it down the road and noticed right away something was wrong. I took it back, told the mechanic, took it for a drive, he looked it over. But couldnt find anything. I felt rushed because they were working on the next car (putting a rear-end in a M3 show car) consulted NAM and found it was the boot around the steering column at the firewall.
MOT did say I need a power steering line and both valve cover gasket & oil pan gasket replaced. Nothing major, I keep an eye on my oil and PS levels.

I recently recommended Swedish Motors to a friend who lives in Lancaster in for scheduled maintenance on his
MINI Cabrio, and he was pleased with the service (and yes, he forwarded to me the $25 service credit voucher).
I know where I'm going for my next MINI service or repair.
... and it won't involve four one-hour-plus journeys on the I-83 "parking lot" between York and Towson.

Just had Inspection II , state and emissions inspection, and manual transmission
fluid change done there. I supplied the motor oil (Amsoil 0W30), filter (OEM),
serpentine belt (OEM) , and transmission fluid (Redline MTL), and had them
skip the air filter and cabin microfilter, as they had recently been done, but
they do stock commonly used MINI parts there and know how to work on MINIs.
Very good service, nice people, and all of that was only about $325 (with
a $25 discount for previously referring someone there).
Much nicer drive from York to Marietta than from York to Towson, too.
They also have a very nice Red/White Austin Mini 1000 in their waiting room,
as well as a 748 cc 3 cylinder 2 stroke SAAB Sonnet engine displayed on a stand.

Took my 2009 MCS there a few months ago, great service, good prices. Much better than the dealership, I plan to go there for all my service. I used to live in Marietta, and these guys have been there for many years, first specializing in Volvos. They have always had a great reputation for service and courtesy, never heard anything but good comments.

my mini is heading to swedish!!!
my car is heading to swedish motors as we speak. since the cold weather i had a rather metal-to-metal sounding whine...i could never pin point it. so last night after work i was heading to my in-laws and heard a noise.. my battery light and my coolant light came on but the car still was able to move. I was only about a mile from my in-laws so I didnt travel too far. Got there and found my belt came off...
Checked it out this morning and found that my idler pulley was shot!! It was missing a couple of ball bearings. I called auto zone and advanced auto and neither had the part. so I called swedish motor and having it towed just to make sure I'm not overlooking anything.

Heya, thought I'd drop in and mention...I had my 2006 Cooper S taken to them last week for general inspection and repair (I'm driving down to Florida this week so I needed to get everything in running order). They got me all fixed up, and replaced a wheel bearing assembly that had been giving me grief for a little while now. Their price wasn't to bad (total was 620 some for the new bearing, oil change and full inspection) and everyone there was very cool. They gave me a loaner car overnight too! I'd recommend them to locals definitely, it saves you the long trip to Otto's in West Chester.
