Ditched the Run Flats

I am switching out my runflats on my Clubman S. Since 2008 I have had four episodes with nails and screws, I just can't deal with this any longer. If someone here is interested, I have three good tires and one needing a plug (shop says you can't plug them) - make me an offer.

I haul drums - I realize I will now be in a pickle if I get a flat, but what should I now consider as a backup plan ? donut or something else that will fit.

Yikes! Four episodes in two years? Maybe your tires are magnetized. A lot of people carry some Slime, and others AAA.

Us drummers have to look out for each other. Any tires you move to will be night and day over the runflats.

You're making me nervous, but I'm still switching to non-runflat Michelins tomorrow (weather permitting... may get a snow storm here in NYC). I hate my runflats with a passion. I've ordered the Continental Care Kit or whatever it's called from Tire Rack... it's basically a compact air compressor and can of tire gunk, which is about $79 or so.

For those who chose to run with non-runflats

I've seen several threads about options for those who ditch the run-flats. I'm waiting for mine to wear out so I can switch also. The thread that interests me the most is a kit with a product called "slime". Seems it brings everything you need for a roadside repair, even brings a small compressor that plugs into the cigarette lighter. Best part is the owner shows a pic to how little room this takes in the boot. Sorry I can't attach the thread I read but I know it's in NAM.

got the club before the snow hit here in DC and then drove it home in snow after work. What a remarkable difference in the ride and performance in the snow. Glad i did it.

Isn't it amazing what the right 'shoes' can do for your car?

Good move! I got rid of mine last summer and haven't missed the RFs 1 bit! Just ordered some SLIME and am awaiting its arrival any day now.

Get a dynaplug also. Especially if it's only a nail that is causing you to go flat. This way you don't have to spray the slime into the tire if you don't have too. You can plug it roadside fill with a compressor and go. I carry both the slime kit and the dynaplug in my car. I've used the dynaplug 3 or so times and have yet to use slime in my tires.

I'll save the slime for something the dynaplug can't fix.

Throw a multitool in the glove box also, Got to get the nail or screw out somehow.
