National Scenic Byways Book

If you would like a free book of great roads for our cars go to www.byways.org. The book is by National Geographic and is offered free by the "National Scenic Byways Program. If you were to buy it in a store it will cost $25.00. It lists 275 of the best drives in the U.S. Now these are scenic roads, not necessarily the twisties we like. The emphasis is on the views and scenery, but each of these 275 roads is a great drive. It's a free small book and it fits perfictly in an MINI door pocket. Did I mention FREE! Go to the site and click on the "Get Your American Byways Brochure" and about 8 weeks later you will get it.

Chuck had posted this on Mid Ohio in May and I ordered the book and it is amazing. I recommend that you take the time to order this free book.

I signed up for one at least 4 months ago. I got it 2 months later and completely forgot I'd ordered it. It's nice for a history lesson/ to learn about an area that might be interesting, but there are other resources out there that can tell you the "good roads". Most of the time I find them on motorcycle sites.

I did not know about this so I just sent a request in today...so I guess I'll see it in about two months. On a related note, which one of you is writing the Comprehensive MINI Motorhead Guide to Northeastern Ohio and Beyond???

The motoring guide for NEO reads something like... Head Southeast for a few hundred miles to hit "good" driving roads. (there are a few here, but....)

There's a magazine called Ride Texas that has pretty good stories about road trips, small towns, the beauty of the open road, etc. It covers Texas, the Southwest, and sometimes beyond. Good maps too. A nice read if you don't mind all the ads being for Moto gear rather than MINI gear.

That sounds cool. I wish we had something like that here.
