Third Annual Covered Bridge Cruise

Based on inquiries during our Highway 25 cruise today, we want to see if there is any interest in running our Third Annual Covered Bridge Cruise.

The date we have in mind is Saturday Nov. 12. Somebody let me know if this is a football weekend; ya'll know I don't follow that stuff too closely. Propose another date if the 12th is not good.

We would start about 9:30 or 10:00, have a picnic lunch along the cruise route, and return to B'ham for an early dinner together and with other "Mini'iacs" that couldn't make the cruise. If there is a game that night, maybe we could watch it together on a sports bar big screen somewhere.

Please post your interest. A decision will be made by next weekend and details posted here.

Thanks!

Greg

I'm glad to see we are doing this run again. As far as football. The 12th is a big one for Alabama and Auburn. Alabama plays LSU and Auburn plays Georgia. November 19th is the Alabama /Auburn game. I think the only open Saturday in November without football is the 26th.

Hopefully we can work something out.

I know I be a gal & all but I do luv my Alabamy football so November 12th is bad because that is a big big weekend. I am 100% in for Nov 26th or any day in December (except the 3rd cause that is the SEC Championship game & my fingers are crossed that Alabama will be in it ). I could even do Nov 5th as I am willing to listen to the AL/Miss State game on the radio & Aub plays Kentucky that day (kick of times for both are still TBA), those aren't real biggies but we are probably better off trying for Nov 26th or any Saturday after Dec 3rd.

F.Y.I...no kick off time is announced for the AL/LSU or the AUB/GA games on 11/12 but odds are they both won't be nite games & the AL/AUB game is 11/19 w/a 2:30PM kick off; the SEC championship game on 12/3 is at 5PM so that one would be possible to watch after the ride.

I really look forward to this ride since I just missed last year cause my Mini didn't arrive til Dec 31st.

p.s...lets be sure not to discriminate this time & let everyone know that non-red Minis are welcome (we had all red minis this past Sat except for one lone yellow riding down Hwy 25)

Any of the mentioned Saturdays will work for us, we didn't have our mini last year, so this is a new one for us. What are the details? What covered bridge do we go to?

Any of the Saturdays will work, although I prefer Sundays, since I typically work on Sat. But, given its a longer trip than 25 and folks have church plans, maybe Saturday would be better. However, a Sunday date would avoid all the college ball games. Just a thought.

Yucca (hubby) and I are interested.

And we don't watch football.

My parents will be in town on the weekend of the 7th, but noone needs to plan around us (we tend to be organizationally challenged). Maybe we could put my parents in the back seat !

Well, the 26th is out for us. We will be in Williamsburg, VA for Thanksgiving this year and will be driving home on the 26th. For that matter, the 19th is also out because we're leaving that day (should have checked my calendar before I threw a date out there I guess!) I'm tied up with other committments on the 5th & 6th, 19th & 20th, and 26th.

Anyway, how about Sunday the 13th?

For those asking for more info, I've put something together for your reference.

As another person with no interest in football, I say let's just go ahead and plan a drive on a day that the "big game" is on. There will be fewer people on the roads to get in our way.

And let's face it, EVERY fall Saturday in Alabama is the weekend of the "big game" for someone if not everyone who enjoys the game.

Last time I checked, they broadcast football games on the radio. . ..

Any Saturday or Sunday is great with us! And we are just dying to show off the new Cooper with the silver roof!

Sundays are better for me, except the problem of the Mike Shula Show, I don't usually get back in B'ham until about 2 pm. Any how I could meet you all afterwards for desert or yackin.
By the way the MOB website is takin a toll on me to get up and running, cause I am a web dunce. So any of you all have have website knowledge please email me and help this dunce get this thing off and running.

How about the first weekend in Dec. I don't think their is any football games then, but I could be wrong. Did part of one of the bridges fall down this summer?

Does the lack of activity on this thread mean that Yucca and I will be our little parade (all by ourselves)?

Sorry to take so long to reply, I've jus been waiting to hear all the input.

Sounds like Nov. 12 is out because of football. So, what about Sunday, Nov. 13th or Dec. 3 or 4?
