Two-way Radios

I posted this for the Southeast, but thought it might be worth mentioning here as well. If you have 2-way radios why not carry them anytime you are out motoring. We could agree on the channel/sub-channel to use so everyone could meet and greet other MINI owners. It is sort of like the old days when everyone had a CB radio and could chit chat on the road. This way if you saw someone on the other side of the interstate and could not "blink you headlights" or give the "thumbsup" and be seen, you could give them a "shoutout" with the two way. Say "hey" with the two-way. Sort of has a ring about it, for the south anyway.

We could put this info on the website too.

I noitice the www.bamamini.com website is new. I think the two way radio idea would be a good thing to post on that website. I don't know who is over the website but it looks good. If I can help with the website let me know.

two way radios

Hey be nice, don't use a sub code. Lots of us have older or cheaper radios that do not support CSTSS (codes / sub channel). We can hear you, but your radio won't let our signal through. If you set a radio with code or sub channel to sub 0 then you can hear those of us that don't have the encoder.

A previous thread had suggested 7-21 be the official MINI channel, so that's what I was assuming.

Now's a good time to upgrade, radios that do support the privacy channels are quite reasonably priced... And the 7sub21 channel is rapidly becoming a nationwide MINI Club standard

Today I saw a Blue Mini and I called out for them on the Two way Radio but I didn't get anyone on the line. I hope Mini Drivers are seeing this info. If anyone is in the cullman,Decatur area, then keep your eyes open for me. British Green Mini with white top. From time to time I'm in the Huntsville area. My two ways are on when I'm in the Mini. One on 7-21 and one on Scan.

By the way check out my new site at

Saw another Mini but I dont' think they seen me!

I was on 6th ave in Decatur at 8:am this morning right behind a limited edition Mini cooper. I called them on the two way but no reply. For some reason I keep seeing Mini's but always parked never anyone in them. So when I see someone in them ,I call them. About two weeks ago I saw a Mini Cooper in Madison. They did see me and we both put our hands out the window to say we did see every other. I didn't call on the radio that day but I was happy that two Mini Coopers had met on the road that day.
