What is the deal with the parade? What time, where, do you have to register your mini etc.?

I could not find this information and I know other Dragon Virgins are curious too.

 

check the events page for time and place. it's usually after the photo at the bottom of the dam, but times this year may have changed.

 

No, usually it starts at 9:00am from the base of the dam. Start meeting at 8:00am. It is not after the photo.

 

The kicker is go to the BASE of the dam not the top. The top is a long drive from the base

 

As far as I know and remember from last year, there wasn't a sign up for it. It was more a show up for it.

Yep- the parade is a bit more informal than many of the MOTD activities. Show up on time, queue up on the road leading to the base of the dam, and then take a nice, easy drive across the Dragon.

(I actually recommending showing up good & early and schmoozing with the people in front of & behind you in the queue while you wait for the slackers )

 

Is the parade same as the Cherohala drive or am I confusing things?

 

You are confused. The Parade is a slow run of the Dragon. Any ride to the Cherohala Skyway is separate and a good distance away. The skyway is 56 miles long compared to the 11 mile Dragon.

 

Has the Cherohala Drive been dropped this year?

 

That was a drive organized by a person/group year's past.

 

I believe the Sunshine MINIs group is doing a Cherohala drive themselves. If you want to tag along I would head to their forums and drop them a line.
