WiFi hotspot?

Has anyone gotten this to work? I can connect to it, but it says there’s no Internet connection. There doesn’t appear to be any eSIM option within the various menus, even though that’s what it says in the owners manual. So far Mini customer relations and the dealer have not been able to answer any questions aside from asking him to bring the car in. I can’t figure out if I am missing a part or if I have a part that’s there but not working.

I think the WiFi is only for wireless Android Auto and Carplay. The car even uses the phone connection for downloading car system updates.

No, it’s pretty clear from the manual that you should be able to connect up to 10 devices to use Wi-Fi in the car.

It is my understanding that to have wi-fi in the car itself you have to set up the eSim and it sounds like it requires that you establish a contract with your cellular provider. If so, it would be another monthly charge like having cellular on a tablet.

So, I was able to finally figure this out--with absolutely zero help from "Mini Assist." And apologies for not doing this update sooner...
The software update we got about a year ago said, in our app, that our cars were now wifi capable. That was a lie; the tech support folks said there was a second software update due last summer that was needed to enable that capability. I was also told, at one point, that AT&T would not support this. That was also a lie.
In the spring, I discovered that the app now included the ACTIVATE ESIM capability--from the main app menu, tap on VEHICLE CONFIGURATION/PERSONAL ESIM. The last time I checked, it would cost you $20/mo to add the wifi capability. Given that tech support had no idea how it worked, I didn't want to pay for a service that I wasn't going to have any tech support for.

Good to know... I always wondered about this, as well.
I assumed the car had wi-fi capability and it would only require connecting whatever device, such as an iPhone, to have internet service through the car.
Apparently not.
Thanks for the update....

Are the car manufacturers so poor that they have a need to nickel and dime and squeeze every last penny from it's buyers ??? Very wrong if you ask me. And I'm guilty, I pay $100.00 per year for Mini Connected Plus

Yes, but I think $100/yr is a pretty good deal.
