MOTD dumb questions

I can't be the only one wondering about these questions... I just spent a bunch of time trying to figure them out from the MOTD section here, but as far as I can tell, they haven't been answered.

Registration package - should I be expecting something in the mail, or do I get it when I show up and sign in?

When/where is sign-in for MOTD? I assume it's at Fontana Village, but where?

For the welcome and farewell dinners, do I need to print out my confirmation that I paid, or just show up?

The only thing that I'm pretty sure how it will work is the Brew Swap!

Chris, you are the weakest link....goodbye.

The registration packages will be available for pick up during registration at MOTD. That should be in Fontana Village. They haven't yet posted the time and exact location where registration will kick off on Thursday. I'd bet we get that info this week.

I have no clue about the dinners.

And of course the brew swap you understand, I said beer and you were like..."when and where baby!"

Pickup for registration last year was at the Adventure Center at Fontana. I'm pretty sure it will be there again.

I always print out the invoice that shows what I paid for and take it with me to registration just in case.

Exact details are usually posted the week before MOTD.

Hey chrisneal, I asked the same questions in the "motd question" thread , and this is what mfergusan replied

DC Metro MINIs is still pulling the details together for check-in. That said I would expect it to open mid-day on Thursday and be staffed most of the day Friday. On Saturday, for late comers, I would expect it would be open at different times during the day. As for check-in I would also expect you to pick everything up except for meal tickets. Given that its just one more thing to remember to bring there will likely be a list of everyone that has purchased tickets and you will be checked off when you arrive for the dinner.

As with last year the center of operations will be the Adventure Center (also known as the Rec Center). This is where check-in will be held as well as the Welcome Dinner and other events. For the Chili Cook Off the check-in for those tickets will be at the Tapoco Lodge.

Hope this helps!

OK, thanks! It just seemd like we were getting pretty close to the date, so I wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something. I'm leaving next Friday, so I'm hoping the info will be posted by then.

Chris -- I'll speak up for the DCMM folks. You pick up all your material at Fontana when you arrive. A hard woring bunch of DCMM volunteers held a work party this Saturday to stuff the goody bags with all the material that full registrants are supposed to receive:
  • Event registration badge
  • 2006 MINIs on the Dragon screen printed tote bag
  • 2006 MINIs on the Dragon T-shirt
  • 2006 MINIs on the Dragon window cling
  • Lanyard with custom badge containing your name and online handle
  • 2006 MINIs on the Dragon water bottle
  • Other items too mentionable to be numerous!
The DCMM team will have sorted lists that should show all the stuff you registed for and appropriate tickets will be handed out starting Thursday (some of us are arriving Wed PM to get stuff set up). The lists are all on the computer with the information having been transferred from Mark Ferguson (Mr. NAM, who fronted the store) to the the DCMM folks (in addition to the paper lists, we will have it available on a laptop at registration too). I'm not exactly clear just where the MOTD event checkin will be, but the Fontana people will be glad to direct you from their checkin; Click here and slide down to the 4th map on the MOTD map web page. (Any of the DCMM people who know the specific location, please feel free to chime in!)

Of course there can always be problems (especially when kumpoutrs are involved), so it never hurts to bring the confirmations.

See you there -- Tom (DCMM V.P.)

I'd recommend it. Hallucinogens and the Dragon don't mix.

I have a couple of dumb questions...

What's a MOTD? Is that like a message of the day?

Is it contageous? Is it toxic? Can I keep it?

What's all this talk about dragons? All I see are hills and trees!

Last year when I joined NAM, that is what I thought at first. Thought I stepped back in time to a BBS.

According to Minimom, who was there the other day, check-in is now in the Inn, where the Restaurant is. They changed the restaurant name from The Peppercorn to the Mountainview Bistro, too.

Oooooooo...now it's a bee-stroh. I think that's eye-talian for "price increase".
