Just stayed at Fontana Village...

...And it was great!!! Driving through the 'village', there's construction crews *everywhere*! I stayed at the inn for one night. The second floor is still being finished, but the first floor was almost complete! The room I was in was just completed. I was the first guest in the remodeled room! (I even beat the Gideons! ) There was a fresh coat of paint over all painted surfaces, new rugs, new furniture, fixtures, etc. And the common areas have been remodeled too. The 'Bear's Den' (aka the bar) was great! It's a nice, little cozy bar to wind down the night in! The rest of the inn is to be complete before MotD.

The gas station is temporarily closed , but I was assured that it would re-open well before the first MINI arrives. It was scheduled to be done tomorrow, but the weather might set them a bit behind.

As for the Dragon itself, the road is in pristine condition! It was great getting in a pre-run, and I'm waiting for Killboy to post his latest batch of pictures!

Construction......

Great, loose nails all over the road. Get ready for some flat tires.

Do you know if they have mini fridges in the rooms?

Hey, Paul! Thanks for the great report. Sounds like Fontana's spring-cleaning is just about done!

I hope they replaced the fridge in the cabin. It was looking pretty funky last year.

Good to hear.
Last year the Inn was a bit, um... dated. It was nice enough, but when the people in the room next to us took a shower, the bathroom fixtures shook.

It wasn't from the running water either...

Nope, no 'mini' fridges (or bars for that matter ) in the inn rooms.

From what I saw, all of the furniture and stuffs are being replaced in the cabins also.

Oh, and PEP, strangely enough, the only thing that didn't look to be updated too much was the bathrooms! It's still the same tiling, tub, and toilet, but they did replace the showerhead and curtains.

(And you're welcome Clo! )

We took a "tour" at Fontana today and man they have improved just about EVERYTHING!

The Inn rooms are beautiful, the mattresses looked top of the line (pillow top). With Check-In now in the lobby of the Inn things will be much easier.

The management said that most of the cabins have been refurbished.

The place looks more like a resort now. All of the Children of the Corn Cabins are gone!

D'oh! Forgot to mention that! When I was there, they were still a few days away from finishing, but should be done in time for the Dragon.

Oh, and the new mattresses are very comfortable!

Paul! This thread has cheered me up more than anything in a long time! I loved the Fontana, even in its funky state, but the improvements reported by you and Minimom make me really excited to check into my cabin!

Yay!!!

So is ALL check-in (cabins included) in the Inn lobby? Or just Inn check in?

I think ALL check-in is in the Inn Lobby now. The self-standing building that you use to check in at is now being used for something else.

I wonder when they'll update the map on their website? It still shows check-in at the original location.

It will amaze me if they get all the construction finished in time. There was literally contruction going on EVERYWHERE you could see!

The mgr was talking about how this coming weekend they are going to have just as many S2000s up there as we are going to have MINIs. When he said there are going to be around 125 S2000s, we told him he needed to take a look over here, he's in for a big surprise if he thinks that only 125 MINIs are going to be there! His eyes got real big when we told him how many people had registered!

That's funny!
Everything worked but it just kinda felt like you were in a submarine with all the pipes groaning and shaking.

But, then again, as Wagnbat said, maybe it wasn't the running water...
