4th Annual MINIs on the Dragon (2006)Ready to take your turn trying to tame the Dragon? Learn all about what will likely be one of the largest MINI gatherings in 2006.
You must not have many traffic jams in Irwin. I'm originally from Johnstown and a traffic jam there is 2 cars at any light at any one time. It will be interesting to see if we can do our parade on Friday morning where everyone joins up at the base of the dam and drives via 28, right on THE DRAGON and goes to the end. Traffic coming north on THE DRAGON is stopped to let us all through. It is quite the sight.
How bout dem Steelers!!!!
No traffic Jams in Irwin, but I work in Pittsburgh, so I know traffic. BTW, they do not close The Dragon for the parade. Besides the parade goes north bound.

There are only 2 rules when driving the Dragon. The first is "DON'T CROSS THE DOUBLE YELLOW LINE". The second is........... Wait a minute! It's the same as Rule # 1. Also, the driver is, above all, the DRIVER. Let the Navigator do the looking.
And at 3MPH or 30MPH, the parade is the thing to do, once, during the weekend. There is time later for going solo.
No, they don't close the Dragon for the parade, but last year they stopped the north bound traffic at the 129/28 junction to let us all turn right or North on 129.

There are several things that will make a great weekend of driving for all, but staying on your side of the yellow line can not be said enough.
Anyone who has never driven the road may get tired of people who have saying this, but you’ll see for yourself once there, that there is little room for error on the Dragon and taking up the other person’s lane is not a game to play. The drop offs are steep and the rock wall is unforgiving. Cutting sharp corners may be tempting, but if you are going so fast that you are not able to negotiate any turn on the Dragon staying in your own lane then you are driving to fast, you are out of control and need to slow down immediately.
Is there a list or schedule of events posted somewhere? One big list with everything on it. It just seems so difficult to figure out and putting together what is going on, when and where...
In addition to the events on the "event calender" I believe there will be a white erase type board where people can post impromtu drives for small groups.
I've searched around but can't seem to determine where to pick up the actual registration pkg. I assume it will be at the Fontana Lodge office or thereabouts...

The Dam room (Activity building) I believe. That's where it was last year.
smaller? nah...not possible as more folks buy MINIs, sign on to NAM and find out about the Dragon..
It'll be intersting to see if next year's event in bigger or smaller than this year's....
Hopefully, some of the 500+++ will be staying longer than the weekend. We are staying till Monday or longer and after the weekend of all the MINIs and Minis, it sure gets lonely at Fontana.
