My wife's not registered, because she's not going to drive... no need to waste the 5 bucks (which I did last year). So there's +1, and I'm sure there are many more like that. People with kids especially, they could have +2 or +3 possibly.

No registration does not end, only the packages. Anyone can register, they just won't get all the goodies. (Basic Registration Only).

There really is no way of doing a car count. That said, I was thinking of a way to get an estimate, however, it would not be any better then counting all the registration +1s and guessing.

My idea was to start a thread, inviting everyone to post just once for each car they are bringing.

If someone registered 4 people (username +3) and they have 2 MINIs between them then they post 2 times in the thread. Then we count the number of total posts in the thread.

But like everything else, there is no way to make sure that everyone who is reg'd posts. Also there is no way to keep the people who CAN NOT follow directions from posting to the thread more than once if they are only bringing 1 MINI.

Now, if the registration table were to keep count of MINIs when everyone checked in at the table, then we would have the closest possible count. Still would not be 100% as there will be people there who have not officailly registered, so that wouldn't count them.

OK, now my brain hurts.

I count the people registered minus the +1(2) (3)s, minus my wife, minus others I know that won't have MINIs like OctaneGuy, my buddy and his wife(no MINI) meeting us for the weekend on their bikes, etc.

I get roughly 385 MINIs, probably no more but figure -10% for error equals:
347 MINIs

OK, now I have to go lay down!

Generally, with a car event, you register the car with an assigned number and the people are listed with the car. It gives you the ability to count both. It would make my head hurt to count the +1s. There is also the possibility of one person bringing more than one car. I am bringing two myself.

Last year they did a group panoramic photo but I heard not that many people showed up (only 100 & some odd ) . This is my 1st group Dragon & I wish they were doing another photo but I do not believe they are.

I have one of those damn panoramic photos from last year and see it every day as it hangs in my office! I love that damn photo and wish they would take another damn photo so I can hang it on the wall. I am rather depressed they aren't doing it again as I wanted to start a tradition and get one every year!

ok- lets rent a bucket truck and I'll get up there and take a non-panoramic damn photo for everyone!

oh and sorry for the thread hijack...

I have a better idea. If everyone will go to the dam (please note, this means the lower section of the dam; this is for those of you that were at the top of the dam last year, and you know who you are ) at 9 AM Friday, I will be at the top of the dam and will take pictures. Then the equation becomes simpler:

number_ of_cars_in_pics + number_of_clueless_people_who_still_went_to_top_of _dam + 1 = MINIS@MOTD4

I'm willing to toss in a few bucks for a bucket truck to take pics. How much would it cost to rent? About $200-$400?
