The more I think about it, the more sense it makes to have the Jam on Saturday night after the Farewell Dinner, on the porch of the Rec Hall. There are plenty of chairs available in the Hall for folks to bring out and use. (Fontana let us do that last year for the Cigar Salon.)

It will be a nice way to socialize and lead up to the grand finale, Midnight on the Dragon Run! We could sing from 8:30 or 9:00 until 11:00, when folks gather at the General Store parking lot to motor over to Deal's Gap.

People can come by the cabin Thursday and Friday nights for jam rehearsals and mini-jams.

I kind of like the idea of Saturday after the dinner too. There's nothing like lots of cowbell to work off a meal. I don't think Lotsie can get out of making some music by falling back on his stagehand talents though.

You are the one person who has thought about and planed a fun evening around all the other events that will happen at the Dragon this year. Please keep us informed because I will love to plunk a cow bell with the Off Topic Band.

Sweetie, you are the co-producer of the event with me, so you dang well WILL be participating! I am bringing a very special cowbell I inherited from a Federal Judge from Montana...and you can plink on it, if you like!

WARNING to all cowbell players: It is the rare talent that can just pick up a cowbell and start playing... It takes PRACTICE, people! Don't think that beautiful sound is gonna just jump from the thing. You've got to develop your chops through suffering. I'm sorry, there's no other way.

I strongly recommend all would-be cowbell players, to find something to bang on and to keep at it. We've only about 10 weeks and that's not much time.

Hon, sndwave and I are producing the Jam, CooperBeagle is the founding member of the OT Band and its Musical Director. I am bringing a fantastic cowbell that I inherited, along with several other instruments......

I don't suppose anyone has said they will be brining a drum kit? I would like to bring mine, but it is either bring the drums, or my husband. Decisions, decisions.

Strap the hubby to the roof of the MINI! Got any congas or bongos? Drums are encouraged!

At the very least, register to attend so we can provide enough seating for everyone!

Sounds like the OTBDJ will conflict with the ICDS (ice cream / dessert social)? :impatient I can't tell if they're basically in the same place, or if the rec hall is different from the "adventure center." Not that I could manage eating ice cream while I melt everyone's face with my red hot guitar licks, anyway.

You are correct. After posting about the Jam for months, and making sure that it was programmed to not conflict with other events, this new event will be held inside the Dam Room, while we will be outside on the Porch.

MKO will make sure that there is ample seating to accommodate all those registered for the Dragon Jam.

Some event conflicts are inevitable, and should be expected. You can't have 500+ people all attending the same event - there's only so much room!

I'm sure there will be plenty of people who can get some ice cream and head over to the Jam... or listen to the Jam for a while and go get some ice cream, etc. I don't really think this is a big deal.

Just a friendly reminder: anyone planning to attend the Jam, whether you play an instrument, sing, or are in the audience, please register. We need an accurate number to make ample accommodations for all attending and participating. Thanks!

can't there be 2 events at the same time? I mean, there will be hundreds of people there. Aren't we allowed to get ice cream and listen to music??

Of course there can be 2 events at the same time. My concerns are about the inherent confusion when they are basically held in the same location. Edge and I have been discussing them at length via PM. I will contact the organizers of the Social (I believe LaStrega and CmdrVimes), to coordinate the 2 events. Ours is a fundraiser and DCMM's is a pre-paid food event, so there are logistics to be finalized.

actually, it's probably a good thing that these 2 events are being held next door to each other, so to speak. If you do something like pass a hat to raise $$, maybe you'll get some from the ice cream crowd.
