I just called and got one of the timeshares! I'm getting it starting Monday since my husband is going up a few days ahead of me to do some fishing.
He's also bringing our new grill/smoker to get it set up and cook some fish.
Now I"m getting psyched!

I just got a time share cabin, 2 br 2bath, queen in master, 2 twins in 2nd br, and a sleeper sofa, plus a kitchen, cable tv, phone.

Nah, DH will bring it up with his Father's Day present from last year. I surprised him with this (he would never have bought himself a new truck, I of course had ulterior motives since I couldn't stand riding in his old truck!).



So this year was a big year for us and new vehicles. Probably won't happen again for another 10 years!

Yeah, Fontana is pretty much all booked now...I was wondering if anyone has ever camped in tents out there, and how the showers were, etc...or if its worth it to book something in Robbinsville?

 

FYI. There are some great sites you can go to that offer vacation rentals in that area. vrbo.com (vacation rentals by owner) is one of them, or just do a search for Robbinsville vacation rentals. You can offen find a house to rent for about $125. a night.

 

We just settled some things and are able to finalize our plans. I am sure Fontana is full so where do you all recommend?

 

Give Fontana a call, anyway. Lately, they've begun releasing timeshares, so don't give up! www.fontanavillage.com Give them a call and let them know you are with the MINI Cooper people. You'll find something.

 

We're out camping at Fontana to make this a more adventurous getaway...come join us out there!

 

We got one of the timeshare cabins, they said that there were 3 more available if there is anyone else still looking.

Farther away, but a fun drive away too, is the Microtel in Robbinsville. They probably have rooms available. The Tail of the Dragon website lists tons of places in the area to find rooms.

 

Hey guys, I am located in NJ and was thinking of heading down to the MOTD. As from what I can see, I guess I am a little late to get a room at the Fontana. How many of you are going to camp out? As the event is on my days off (thursday and friday) this could be one of the best weekends spent! As someone who will be new at doing this, can you guys give me any tips or suggestions for me to take this trip? Camping would not only be fun, but who doesnt like to camp in the first place! Could be for a good option and can get many of in trouble (fun) hehe! But all in all, What should i prepare for, bring, just any suggestions by you previous event goers would be nice?

Garrett, best advice is just to read through the various threads here, and go to the Dragon section of NAM (link on the left) for maps, etc. This thread is pretty good as far as what to bring goes. It's my first Dragon, too - I'm psyched!

Well keep us posted where you get your campsite...Fontana doesn't have many campsite...only 20, I think. But I've got one of them! I love camping...Also, you can search articles on what to bring for camping at:http://www.basspro.com/servlet/catalog.OnlineShopping

 

I guess Ill have to do some calling tomorrow and see what is available. I know I am getting into everything at the last minute. So my luck is not going to be so good if done much earlier.
