hoosier friends

Looking forward to some beers with our friends from Indiana.
I suggest leaving the Tequila home this year or risk new Dragon Tales.

The reservations are made (Hemlock cabin, since apparently all the Willows are ALREADY sold out).

Working on the Chili recipe so I can school the rest of ya'll with my "mad chili making skills"

Hey 5280

So will you be traveling with friends from Colorado or Solo? I'm sure well have time together. After all, where else can a guy in Ohio hook up with a Detroit caravan for a spirited drive, room with St Louis friends made at last years MOTD, razz the Indy mini crew, and enjoy the company of the Mile High gang from Colorado. The cabin is booked so make plans to stop bye at 3D (Doug, Dan, Dave) for great food and drink.

Hopefully friends

there is a couple here, new to CO who just moved up from New Orleans. They were there last year, I am trying to get them to go along.

Things are great, we have had lots and lots of MINI events this year, and I am ready to pass along the club to my #2. We are looking to have a National Event here next year (a la Dragon) so I am going to do that with NAM as a partner and a couple of other clubs.

I have stayed in good touch with the KC and StL (as you have) folks and we will caravan from here thru there and there to the Dragon. Love to do back roads, but Interstate seems to be the way to go.

Thanks for staying in touch. Many pics at

Hey J & D

The Indy crew will be there! Booked a cabin today. We asked for the same one we had last year so hopefully we will get it. Hope you will stop by with the trash "cooler" beer again.

Look forward to seeing you guys again (and yes, tequilla will be coming along) but you know I will remember everything!!

You remembered! How sweet!

I have been looking for any and every excuse to drive the MINI to Indiana to Motor with you all, and I just cannot find an excuse to drive a day and a half to do so. So I guess I will have to drive TWO FULL FRIGGIN DAYS to NC and do it there. Further, we will stop in ILLINOIS and buy a 'Styrofoam Special' cooler this year ($1.99) so we have even more room for cold beer. DW, I get the cooler, you bring the beer.

And no more HOTEL living...too mundane!!

So MINI5280 has an official cabin, too. We have called for a 'Cabin Decorating Contest'. (Judges decision is final. I am the judge) StL MINIs are IN. Are you in???? (Exterior decorating only)

Oh, and this year's NAM inspired slogan: " What goes on in Fontana, Stays in Fontana." You heard it here first....

Oh, BTW

I will be back home again in Indiana next month for my 25th (gasp, there is no emoticon for this) reunion with my college fraternity friends (and hopefully, some little sisters too). Looking for:
  • a win in the big game vs Northwestern
  • The Golden Girl
  • The Silver Twins
  • more little sisters
  • some Pi Phis
  • all my bvd's which they stole from me in my last semester 25yrs ago. Funny now, not so funny then....
not necessarily in that order.

jsouz – I just viewed your MOTD 2005 slide show. Darryl aka Killboy got some great shots of you. You might want to go back and recaption picture # 48. Those are Miata’s not MINIs.

St Louis popping in here. Hope to have more than last year coming. Have had lots of interest from Club members. We'll be kind of spread out so there will be many Party Cabins not just the 3D's. And I intend to meet as many of you as possible!!!

Time Share

I told MrsDiff that there are tons of time share places around Gatlinburg.. If we have fun in 2006, it might be wise to look into buying a time share in the area.

So how do I get these fine Fontana folks to call me back about cabin availability, or are all the cabins booked up already? I filled out their online info request form two nights ago. Maybe I'll try calling later today.

Chris don't wait for them to get back. Call them and book now. They always have two people working the office this time of the day and have your credit card handy it only takes 5 minutes to book a room/cabin.

Later today would be good for the 2007 MOTD event! 2006 MOTD will probably be booked solid. Heck even the tent camping sites might be full by now!

Nope, I just booked a Dogwood cabin! There were still Laurels available, too. I didn't ask about any other types. I'll probably be doing this on the heels of a 4-day backpacking trip in the Smokies, so I'm fine without A/C and TV and whatnot.

I booked myself into the Inn at the Fontana Village and will be there May 4-7. Even though I live close enough where driving back and forth wouldn't be too bad.
