Fontana Village - what should I bring

Hmm... bike, cooking gear, food, clothing, grill, ... my poor MINI is not going to have any room for a driver lol.

Can someone provide a list of must-brings (or provide me the link with this information). This is my first Dragon. I have never stayed at a cabin -- I originally booked at the Microtel but changed my mind... wanted to be where all the action's at hahahaha -- so I am not sure what to bring.

What should I definitely bring to the Dragon to ensure that I have a good-ole time?

Thanks everybody.

So far, your list is good. Bring a variety of clothing (think layers), as the temp. range is pretty wide. It can be mid to upper 60's if the sun's out during the day, and quite chilly at night.
Rain gear's a must.
camera's a must + batteries
flashlight + batteries
FRS radio + batteries
batteries
did I mention batteries?

As the event draws closer, there will be more info posted, I'm sure. PM me if ya want with questions as this is my 4th Dragon and I have a pretty good idea on what to bring.

other needs...

If you get the cabin I had last year...

Bug spray for the ant invasions. I heard I wasn't the only one so blessed.

Spare legs of assorted lengths for tables. My coffee table and end tables each had 3 legs! I guessed there were some rough characters there before I!

Suggest any food be in well sealed containers. Pastry I brought first night in original box was ant infested by a.m.

Older cabins are a bit rough around the edges, most are better. But even rough ones if warned are fun!

Fontana provides a full setup at the activities center for washing your MINI. All you need are towels to dry it off

Keep in mid that they are under new oner ship and have been doing A LOT of fixing up. When I was there this past Nov there was a lot of construction going on. (I also had to watch for nails and such due to this. ) I think things will be even better this year. All I am packing is my clothes, radios (and batteries), pillow, mom of course, jackets (light and heavy), hiking stick (maybe). I will stop in Robbinsville and pick up some food and coffee when I get there. Other than that there is not much else I need.

Do I have to provide sheets for the beds? I'm at the dogwood... also, how far is the nearest supermarket or grocery store. I'll buy food/liquor(?) there to minimize my packing.

nevertheless, some cabins have hose bibs (mine did last year) and my neighbor (who was wise enough to bring a lonnng garden hose) let me wash my MINI up - it was incredibly convenient compared to the unwashed hordes down at the lodge

The beds have sheets, the closes grocery store is Robbinsville, just up the road from Deals Gap say 20 to 30 min drive. As for liquor it is a dry county accept for tapoco lodge they are the only place to buy beer and wine coolers.

Bring your favorite noisy toys, espeically if you're in a "Dogwood" cabin. There's no TV in there, so your boom box, computer, portable DVD, or other toy will be nice when you get back from the activities and start cracking beers.

Note the inn rooms and the better cabins DO have TVs which may or may not have an input for DVD players, etc. In that case, a RF modulator is your friend.

Bring FUSES for your car. This is one place everyone wants to mod everything, and also plug in lots of things to the cigar lighter plug.
