Get together for 2006 MOTD planning

As this thread got off to a bad start I'd like to restart it so that it can be taken in the original spirit that it was given....an invitation to contribute if you have an interest.

As Michael mentioned in his earlier post

An event of this magnitude requires a sizeable amount of planning, and much of the success of this year's event will be due to the various clubs that have stepped up to put together dinners, drives, and other activities. Not only that, but this year's MOTD will probably be one of, if not the only time that stake holders from all of these groups will be gathered in one place, at least until next year...

With that in mind I'm putting out a call for representatives from EVERY club at this year's MOTD to meet for lunch at the Peppercorn Restaurant Sunday May 8th at noon to discuss planning for MOTD 2006 May 2 to May 6.
I would like to extend this to anyone, vendors, etc. that would like to take a more direct role in next year's event (if an event similar in scope is even desired next year). As we'll likely be losing a number of coordinators after this year there will be lots of opportunities to help with the event. The meeting is really just intended as a roundtable for discussion and for everyone wanting to assist to exchange contact information.

If you are interested just RSVP to this thread so we can insure that enough space is set aside at the Peppercorn.

Thanks

Mark

not trying to get this thread off track or anything, but wouldn't it be easier to plan this meeting sometime on saturday since a lot of people are leaving on sunday before noon? i was looking at the event planner and if we met up around 10 or 11 the closest event is the Cherohola drive at noon, i'm just thinking along the lines of the most groups being represented.

We have 12 Steering Committee Members from Atlanta - some, if not all of us will attend! If you need an exact total that will attend, I've posted it on our message board and will get back to you as soon as I hear from everyone.

If this works for people I'm open to it. I'm also open to making it a breakfast on Sunday morning. Let me know what works best for everyone and we'll try to accomodate as many as possible. Personally I would prefer Sunday morning or lunch as it will give us at least a few hours from the last dinner and drive (Midnight on the Dragon) to reflect and offer input on what was done well, what could be improved, and also what things people would be interested in assisting with for the next year.

According to the Event Planner, the Cherohalla Drive leaves at 9:30, with the lunch on the drive being at noon. Given the number of people signed up for the Cherohalla Drive, Saturday doesn't appear to work as well as could be hoped.

We could conceivably push it later on Saturday, but that might conflict with any preparations AtlantaMINIs may be working on for the Farewell Dinner later that night.

Sunday morning might be a possibility as well, but considering that those on the Midnight Run won't be back until 1AM at the earliest, how early on Sunday would be too early for this?

Minimom, we'll probably have the Peppercorn to ourselves no matter when this meeting is, and can probably get in the area of 75 to 100 people in there if need be. I don't see an issue with all of Atlanta's Steering Commitee coming down if they wanted to.

One thing I just thought of is if you aren't able to attend the get together then I'll have a notebook at the registration sign-in desk where you can provide your name, NAM username, email address, and club (if applicable). Once back from the event I'll create something here on NAM so that we can have online discussion about next year's event.

Lunch on Sunday will work best for us (AtlantaMINIs) because we have a club breakfast scheduled for Sunday morning.

that would be much appreciated and totally awesome!! i'm very interested in helping to organize next years event, but i'm not certain what time the Detroit Caravan will be leaving on sunday, and even if we leave after 12 i'm guessing things will be quite hectic from the time we wake up until we leave.

how about a flyer to be given out with the registration package , a comment card even!!then you could get input from the masses, not just the club people (no offense). maybe have a place to return the cards or flyers at the goodbye dinner. looking forward to meeting all you others next week!! take care ,jon

Feedback would be a good idea. If you want, AtlantaMINIS can have a "box" for everyone to place the feedback forms in at the Farewell Dinner and we can bring them to Mark at the Sunday luncheon.

Thanks, MINImom.

I think Mark and I got to thinking about a box at all the dinners -- just so that people can drop them off if need be before the farewell --- but most certainly the Box (which I guess with nearly 400 folks can't be very 'mini' now can it???)

This is an outstanding suggestion!!! I'm thrilled to see so many people wanting to think about the next year.

Hugs,
PB
