Any Classic Minis attending?

I was just wondering if any Classic Minis will be at MOTD? Were there some there in previous years? I did a couple of searches and couldn't find anything.

There were a couple of sweet ones there last year I think it is more of a comfort (or lack of) issue to drive a classic with no ac up to the dragon so not many show up.

If had a way to get her down there Edna would be slaying the Dragon with all of you young ones.

Cheers,

 2minis drove his sweet 2000 classic CR/W Mini to last year's Dragon Meet. Unfortunately, I don't think he'll be joining us this time around.

I'd love to see lots of Minis on the Dragon!

Edna is beautiful - I wish I could get my hands on a classic Mini - they are so great!

I will be there in the lovely purple Celeste Mini Equinox. I believe Scott from Atl will be bringing BO who used to live in our garage. I am pretty sure Minigma in the Stars and Stripes will show up too. Some other locals with classics maybe around also.

Thanks.

I have been told there there are less than 20 Wolseley Hornets in all of North America. That makes her one rare Mini.

The picture is from a local car show. She took second place on her first time out.

Cheers,
Jack

Next year I'll be towing my classic Mini with my MINI all the way down, so long as I have the work finished that I plan on doing to the classic, want to make it look new again.

I just saw this thread and yes, my classic mini will be there. I am NOT driving it from KY to the dragon. I will be using my new mini hauler to do that. See you all there. Here is a pic of my classic.

I have just received an email from a classic owner from FL who intends to run the touring rally in his.

At this point he would be automatic 1st place.

Thanks. I appreciate it. I should be there sometime Friday afternoon, so be on the look-out. I will be driving it in the Skyway drive and Midnight on the Dragon. The funny thing is that when I turn on my driving lights, I lose all sorts of power - Crazy!!

Ah, sign of a true classic. I just replaced the fusebox on mine, made a HUGE difference. Wish I could bring it this time, but it's simply not set up for dragon running... been daily driving it since january.

Are your driving lights on a relay or wired direct? Do you have the stock low amp alternator? Is your braided ground strap from engine to body in good shape? This is only a problem with the driving lights and not the headlamps??

Let me clarify. It is only with the stock headlamps. The headlamps have three positions: off, daytime driving lights, and regular lights. When I flip the rocer switch all the down, my tac goes crazy and I lose power :(. I have checked the alternator and the grounds and I haven't found anything out of the ordinary. My alt doesn't drop in power when lights are on and my engine ground checks out fine. I think the dark prince of wiring is haunting me!!

Dunno what to tell you on that - take it to a british car shop, see if they can find the problem. You probably looked at the car the wrong way one morning, and it's still pissed

MiniManiac74 the previous questions came from my hubby, also known as hotelcalif. We went through a number of alt/charging/grounding probs with our British Open. He suggests the problem may be in the headlight switch itself. To keep from hijacking the thread any more, if you would like any further assistance you can email him or me from this board. He's been in and around the classic Minis for over 30 years.

Hijacking is good. It adds drama to an otherwise boring thread I think it is a grounding issue. I replaced the headlight switch to fix another problem. Since I don't drive it much at night, I haven't aggressively looked at the problem. Thanks for the assistance, hopefully I will bump into you at the dragon.

Now, what were we originally talking about??????????

Classic Minis.....which lead to a diagnostic session. Why am I not surprised?
We HAD to sort our problem quickly as it was killing alternators and also did in the speedo. We didn't car how fast we were going but we did want the car to continue running.
