Weather

Does anyone have an idea as to what the weather might be like for the Dragon? I know it's 2 weeks away, but one can hope.

Thanks.

Well, even though I live in SoCal, I've been to the Dragon 5 times since '03. In May, it rains occasionally at the Dragon, and gets coolish at night. It's a good idea to bring layers and prepare for cool to mild weather.

Most people will probably be comfortable in short sleeves and long pants during the day with a jacket or sweatshirt at night.

If you're headed up on the Cherohala Drive dress wamly, the higher parts of the Skyway can be as much as 30 degrees cooler than downtown Robbinsville.

Obviously we'll know more about the anticipated weather conditions in another 10 to 14 days as reasonably reliable extended forecasts are available for the weekend we'll all be there.

Is there any such thing as a "reliable extended forecast"?

You need to plan for warm temps in upper 60's or low 70's to cold which may be as low as the low 30's. I have been up there in ealy May on a bike and was miserable because it was so cold. In NC you may need the heat in the morning and the AC in the afternoon.

Maybe I will give the Midnight run a miss. I don't want to be driving the Dragon in the rain after Minzilla's sun dance

The great sun Gods may just turn on the faucet to ensure Minzilla puts the cloths back on

Although I'm not too concerned yet, as the National Weather Service still has trouble predicting the afternoons' weather accurately in the morning!!
