Update, I got a call from my MA on Tuesday. Our car started production Tuesday! So we are a bit ahead of schedule.

Same here...called Ask MINI today and they said my Surf Blue Countryman entered production yesterday morning.

 

I called Ask Mini and it was "Scheduled for Production" but no date. How long from this point until a date is given? It just changed from "On Order".

 

Maybe we will wind up on the same ship as well.

With me it was 3 weeks. The lounge on the Mini USA site, stiil indicates on ordere no production date yet.

Our CM sat for over three weeks. I was getting antsy. Found out it has to do with color. For example, we ordered Light Coffee and apparently it is not a popular color, so MINI (as would any other manufacturer) for a specific amount of that color before they start the process. Be patient it will get done.

 

I ordered mine on Aug 29th. On the Ask MINI recording mine went from On Order to Scheduled for Production with No Confirmed Date on September 5th. Spoke with a representative on the 9th and she said there was still no confirmed date but was scheduled for the daily production pack. Called again on Tuesday the 13th and production had started, but they didn't know when. Confirmed today that production started yesterday morning. OL still has it listed On Order, the Ask MINI recording now kicks me straight to a representative when I punch in the production number.

 

Don't know if the ships heading through the canal stop along the way or not. From what I understand, my Countryman will debark in Brunswick, GA. Either way, look like they're heading down the assembly line together.

 

Have you heard anymore on your delivery date? My status is still at VDC on OL but the delivery date changed from 9/17 to 9/14. That doesn't make sense as that was yesterday. Since you are in Austin and I'm in San Antonio I thought we might be on the same truck.

 

My delivery date online also changed-- but to today, the 15th. That's strange that you would get a day earlier date add you are farther west than I. That makes me think different trucks..

Keep me posted on your information, and I'll do the same.

 

Me, too! I already hate the wait. I am productively occupying myself by entering different vanity plate options into Florida's DMV site. Really wondering if I can go ahead and order one now as it takes 6-8 weeks to manufacture. hopefully I won't have to drive around for too long with MO MINI on my MDX!

 

Checked OL and dealer ETA updated from 9/16 to 9/15 also. Stopped by the dealer and drove through the lot but no new Mini's.

 

My 2012 is in! Picked it up last night. I think I may be first from the site. Initial thoughts: Love it! Car runs great! I really like the Comp/Nav unit so far although I don't have an iPhone yet. Waiting for the new one.

Only two things to report: My chack engine light is on and I need to take it in tomorrow. My MA thinks it just needs a computer reset. They may have filled the tank with the car running. That will make your light come on.

Also, I can't get any of the stupid rail things off the rail. I can slide them, but not remove them. I feel like they are going to break. Also, I can't open the sunglasses case. Am I an idiot? Any tips there?

 

Congrats Skids!!! Atlanta wins the first 2012 CM award, guess there are a lot less cars to process/transport in Brunswick vs. the Jersey City VDC. The Elektra dropped off ours 3 days earlier yet all of us NE ppl's CM's are still waiting to get on a truck to the dealer

For the rail items, there should be a lever on the base where it attaches, I think you need to pull it up? and it should pop off.. sunglass case maybe a push button in the front?

You may be the first 2012 Countryman in the US. I second the request for information on the beltline chrome trim. Is it the defective chrome tape over plastic, or is it the all aluminum trim.

I guess the new trim is coming in but it was a question as to whether Mini switched to the new trim before producing the first 2012s.

Congrats Skids! Yes, pictures please. And during my test drives I couldn't get that damn sunglasses case open either. I pawed at it for a few minutes and gave up.

mrk5n - looks great and thanks for getting part of that cosmic blue in the shot!

 

No chrome issues to report...yet. One thing I noticed is there is black plastic on the edge of the "chrome" trim that goes around the vehicle. Not sure if that is different from the 2011's. I will check today when I am at the dealer.

That's a handsome MINI! Skids, we actually have similar configurations, and I'm glad to see that non-xenon lights look great too. I was starting to worry about how the halogens would look. Also, how is the leatherette? Have a good one!

 

My dealer just got some 2012 CM's in so it looks like you should be able to find them at dealerships soon!

 

So the trim seems to still be chrome tape (not sure if it is defective though). Looks fine now. I did see a 2011 on the lot that had peeling trim. Looks pathetic! I hope mine is ok. It looked like maybe they added extra black plastic trim around the chrome to help keep it on, but that may be my imagination.

Good to hear I am not the only one. And I forgot to have them show me at the dealership today. Damn. Good thing I am only 10 minutes away.

Yeah. I really like the color. It totally changes though depending on the light. Going from darker blue, to bright blue to blue-green. Yeah lights look good to me. Halogens better, but you know. Leatherette is a tough call. Of course it is cool today, but I do think I may be sticking in the summer. I was a little yesterday and it wasn't super hot. I think this may be my biggest regret. But love the car so far.
