F60 Dinan or NM exhaust
Dinan or NM exhaust
Looking for some honest feedback on these 2 exhaust systems for the f60 countryman. Not much in way of decent sound clips on both but my real concern is drone. If any members have either of these systems please give me some feedback or sound clips if you have any. I'm partial to the Dinan because of the valve, but also like the low growl of the NM system. Thanks.
I can only speak to the NM, since that's what I put on my 2019 JCW. Absolutely loved the sound! I don't think it droned...however, my wife said the noise bothered her by vibrating her eardrum. (I didn't bother to explain that vibration of the eardrum is the way she hears...but I digress). The fitment was great, but here is a bit of a tip if you with NM. Put the front-most section on first, raising the rear of it all the way up as high as it will go into the tunnel. This assures you can get a good bite with the V-Clamp where the pipe joins the Flexible downpipe section. Also, if you are concerned with drone, simply keep the resonator section of the OEM exhaust, and insert it back in to the system if you get a drone you don't like...I can't guarantee that would work, but it's a possibility.
Again, I didn't think it droned. At highway speeds while cruising, I could barely tell there was a difference in sound between stock and the NM. Good luck with whatever you decide!

As a former SAAB factory trained mechanic and SAAB owner ( 73 Model 99, 74 Model 99, 82 Model 900 and Model 9000's ) there is no other car to compare. These were excellently engineered.
Then GM came along and totally KILLED the brand.

I forgot that the Dinan left the stock honeycomb inline of the exhaust. If you are concerned about possible drone, the Dinan would probably be a reasonable way to avoid it (but drone is related to length of sound waves bouncing around, so there is a chance that whatever changes you might do downstream could affect the sound wave patterns and therefore affect the proper resonator shape).
Again, my NM Engineering sounded great to my ears, and no need for the electronics...you simply have to be gentle on the throttle to keep it 'quieter" when that is your desire.

Now if only the NM system had the option for black tips.
