Service Issues

We have a problem with our 2018 Countryman S and we had it at dealer two times before and they can feel the problem but can't find the problem. We have another appointment in a few weeks My question is what else can I do in order to get this problem resolved. Can I insist on having a Mini rep look at the car. Should I call the main Company. "WE have a extended warranty." Not saying this is the problem but we noticed the problem after they replaced the motor mount under a recall. You can feel somethings when turning the steering wheel, to me it feels like an upper strut issue. Other then this issue the car has been perfect. My wife loves this car, just want to get it fixed. Getting frustrated!!

Upper struts have had issues on the F56 https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...-failures.html , on the f60 here is the part for non EDC/DDC cars. We now have lower cost options. Also their has been some part number revisions which means they updated the supplier or parts, those are the newest.

Well if that is actually our problem, I see why they don't want to fix under warranty. Cost them too much money.

You need to find an independent shop near you and avoid the 'stealerships'.

Try this.

You would pay an independent shop instead of using the warranty you already paid for? Why?

My main wrench honored my extended warranty as long as I had it. He's been the only man under the bonnet for the past 16 years.

Oh, I was thinking the extended warranty worked like the factory warranty and you had to use the dealer.

Well, since neither of us know exactly what type of warranty the OP has, we'd maybe do ourselves well by dropping the subject and wishing the OP success solving the problem. But, finding a solid, trustworthy independent MINI tech should be at the top of every MINI person's list...except, of course, those who know which end of a wrench to use.

Let me say the dealer finely took us seriously when we ask the same thing about the warranty the dealer sold her when she bought the car. Its held by Rick Hendrick Mini of Charleston and I could use it elsewhere. They keep the car for about a week so far and found the problem. It's the steering rack and it's being replace under warranty. approximately $5,000 they gave us loaner as well 2023 Countryman. I yelled at her back when she paid 2900 for the warranty but so far it saved us more then it cost. We are pretty happy right now with the warranty and the Dealer. Thanks for all the interesting comments!

Well done. I'd still be on the lookout for a top German motors independent shop for when the warranty expires. Stealerships are notorious for finding problems to fix where none exist on post-warranted machinery.

Good advice I do have a EuroPro shop near me. I've taken the car their a few times. They do good work. We have a 7 year 100k extended warranty. Hopefully nothing this serious goes wrong again. But If it does I have alternatives....
