I'm a beginner MINI.
I have a little bit problem with the CUP holder like the picture below.
(Holder went inside)
I searched for a way to remove the center console and cup holder but I couldn't have found it.
So, I seek help.
There is a problem inside the red circle! I want to way remove the RED BOX.
I have the same issue with a 2018 F60SE. I've looked into this before, yes appears you have to remove the center console to get at the backside of the cup holder to repair the 'fingers' that have collapsed in. The R60 cupholders come out easily from what I can tell. The F60 are put in from the back. If someone knows of a simple way to repair this I'd like to know as well.
1) remove the shift lever - start by pulling up the shift boot as you have in the picture. There are several wires and connectors depending on your model. Instructions say to also remove the ****, but you can probably rotate the center console when loose so that the cupholder is over one of the footwells in front of the seat.
2) remove the figure 8 ring around the cupholders themselves
3) the console is held in by 6 spring clips you pull it up and it should gradually unclip, start at the back because it looks like the front may be under an overhang. Gentle and not too much angle as it is the type of clip that is a small protrusion of plastic from the console with a bit of spring like metal over that. Similar to many of the european car clip styles. See the #2 inset. Note there are also several sets of wires for the selector **** and electric parking brake.
4) the cupholder is held onto the center console by 4 screws sent up from the bottom side of the cupholder into the bottom side of the console. So no way to get the cupholder off without clearing the bottom of the console so you can get to the 4 screws from underneath. Screws are at approximately 2 o'clock and 6 o'clock for the right cupholder and 10 and 6 o'clock for the left one.
I may try this, once I get the console loose I will try to rotate it out to one side and get enough clearance to get a screwdriver up underneath to remove the screws. May take awhile before I try this, temps are too low to stay out for long, 20F and less.

I solved the cup holder problem.
Thanks to @ApexF60SE for help.
I simply post the resolved process below.
Step.1: Remove the shift lever & Cup holder cover & center console.
Step.2: Remove the cup holder at the Center console.
Step.3: Cause analysis and repair.
Step.4: the material used for repair. ^^?
Step.5: Assembly is the reverse of disassembly!
Nice job! Thank you for the write-up and pictures.
With the images and write-up, you can quickly see the missing pivot/tabs when you take off the top "8" cover. The arrows point to the empty holes where the tabs should be and at the bottom of the image you can barely see a similar round hole, but filled with the tab pivot point (no arrow).
Thanks again!

That's a mighty useful graphic; is there a way to source these diagrams for other tasks?
I have a whole-*** shop manual for my old Jaguar and haven't been able to find similar for my F60...
edit: I did this repair to my Mini over this week - several warm days! I did bend one of the spring metal tabs too much and it broke. I picked up a $3 package of spring clips used for window screens and made a workable replacement. Excited to now have fully working cupholder fingers! Of the 6, 4 were broken exactly as @TaeWOW described above. - Yeah, excited... its the little things.
