Full Screen CarPlay

Has anyone had full screen CarPlay activated? If so is it better than the existing version that only uses 2/3 of the screen?

Unfortunately I am running iDrive I-Step firmware L so the software does not support it, apparently you need either N or O - but not P!

How does one activate the fullscreen CarPlay? My 2019 F57 has CarPlay, but I don't use it because the CarPlay display is so small.

I suspect that full screen is not possible in the Mini implementation because of the ability for the user interface to be switched to Split Screen. I am thinking that they just decided not to implement two separate views of CarPlay because of this. Of course, it's just a guess on my part... but I was a software product manager in one of my former lives.

I thought it was an iDrive 7 thing, and we have iDrive 6.

There are lots of people offering full screen car play for BMW's with idrive 5/6 on eBay - so there is no reason why it wouldn't work on Minis with widescreen touch displays.

Waze on a BMW in fullscreen.

Waze on a BMW in fullscreen.
But that's only with the newest version of iDrive, no?

I would love fullscreen Carplay, we have this really lovely display that is tiny when only having Carplay up.

I am SO interested in this, especially with iOS 13 CarPlay updates. How do I get said dongle? And who can help with the coding?!

I hope this will be available somewhere soon too.
Waze via Carplay is just so much better than the MINI Nav, not in the least for revealing police activity on highways. Full Screen would be the icing on the cake.

Anyone having connection issues since iOS 13 came out? Sometimes it connects, sometimes it doesn't.

Have you tried restarting? I am not having Carplay issues but had some other issues that a restart fixed. Just a thought!

I haven't updated to the official update yet, but will in a bit (been running betas for the past month) and haven't had any issues... 13.1 just came out, so if you haven't updated to that one yet, try that and hopefully it'll fix your problem!

Hi all this is my first post but I just picked up a 2019 countryman with navigation plus and was very disappointed to discover CarPlay is squashed into the screen.

reading through this post - https://f87.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...1598411&page=2

and searching on eBay for the full screen mod they all say it’s possible on a mini but when I check for the version number it seems to be a different format? Is this possible on a mini?

Unfortunately, everything I've read says that it's NOT possible to have full screen CarPlay in a MINI.

Red face

feel i've seen threads last year saying it was possible to do w/MINIs on newest iDrive but you would then lose split screen outside of carplay. either full screen carplay and no split screens or split screen options but windowed carplay. will check my history tonight to see if i can find links.

oh wait.. i think BMW changed something to prevent users that shouldn't have carplay to get carplay activated on the earlier F60s... will post back if i find anything

People are still attempting to make the full screen CarPlay work on the mini. The issue currently is that if you activate full screen like in BMWs, the image will get cut off due to the shape of the plastic.
