Hi. I'm a week 37'r, clubman s. My car went into production today and has the Harmon Kardon on it's build sheet. My MA is convinced that I'm getting it, although we'll see when it arrives.

 

Congrats! H/K was on my build sheet too, along with others here as well. Needless to say, none of us are getting the H/K, including Pennysfbay who's still in production as we speak. But, stranger things have happened. But it would sure **** me off if you got the H/K, and I'm sitting at the port without it but wanted it.

 

If i don't get the HK, will i get the HIFI?

 

The H/K option was removed from my build as soon as my MA was informed about the December timeframe. I didn't want anything holding me up!

That said, I just called MINI USA again about my production status. Ah-hah! Um, so my vehicle started production last Friday (9/4), but the system hasn't been updated since. The lady on the phone told me that this week is an "off" week for them, so likely won't change until they start things up again next week. ARGH! I want to make that next boat to Port H. on 9/18, but it'll be tight.

 

Mine went into production today. I'm going to be really bummed if i don't get any upgrade sound. The stock system was pretty pathetic.

 

Maybe that's why mine is sort of sitting in stasis! When my MA told me that the H/K wasn't holding mine up I couldn't help but wonder what *was* holding it up. I mean, I'll be patient and all, and I'll just keep telling myself that my car is just that awesome that it requires a little extra fanfare before they can prepare to build it. Maybe mine's the first '10 JCW and they have to have a little party before they can make it! Maybe...

No Hi-Fi in a 2010. Not even an option till the HKs are available. That's why I backed out and chose to wait till Dec.
The factory may be automatically "banning" the code for the HK and allowing the car to continue through the process. Or it could get stuck until your MA removes the code.
Nevertheless cars now do not have a 10 spkr option. Only the 6 spkr CD, HD, or Satellite.

That stinks, my MA is an admin here, Krut... I'll forward this thread along to him, see what he says. I'd hate to wait until december, but the base system was bad... he actually convinced me to upgrade.

 

Has anyone here heard anything about what IS in the premium package? The 2009 package included the sunroof, auto AC, and multi-function steering wheel. With the MFSW being standard on the 2010s, is the premium package now just the sunroof and auto AC? And is it the same price? I'm starting to feel like I should have just ordered a 2009. I'd have had my car by now, with all of the stuff I wanted, for a little less money, and at least a hifi.

Go ahead and order your cars if you were waiting until December - starting with week 39 all models are freely able to order the H/K sound system.

As in, two weeks from now the H/K system will be available for any models and the production on those ordered cars will not be held up until December?

My car, as far as I know, hasn't yet started production yet. I would happily wait two more weeks for an H/K system. Not until December, though.

Would the fact that I ordered my car prior to Week 39 production make me ineligible to just hold out for the H/K upgrade?

I'm getting so much conflicting information that I'm getting completely confused. :P

 

Yeah, I figure I'm already now going to be in build week 38 (since this is week 37, and it seems like production is maybe halted), so I would only have to wait one more week to get the upgraded HK? This is crazy talk if it's true and will make me sad and frustrated.

 

Penny - how do you know you're not getting it - do you have a serial number if so send me the last seven.

 

I'm not getting it because my MA took it off the build before the order was placed. :(

 

Just talked to my MA about this -- he's being so patient and understanding with me, and I really appreciate it, because I'm sure I'm being a wishy-washy PITA. I mean, I want my awesome car NOW NOW NOW, but that stereo upgrade would just make it even that much sweeter!

He's going to look into it further for me, but also mentioned that perhaps some of those Week 39 cars that are getting the H/K stereo codes approved are Camden/Mayfair models?

So, we'll see...

 

Alright, me again!

My MA just called to confirm that he added the HK code back to my order and that it pushed my production week out to week 41/first week of October.

It's a tough, tough decision, but you know...I've waited *so* long for this car that a few more weeks for it to go from "close to perfect" to "absolutely perfect" is hard to argue with. So I'll just refer to myself as a member of the Week 36, 37, and 41 H/K snafu support group." :P

Penny, it might not be too late to add the code back to yours, since production is halted this week?

 

Well this whole thing is just a pisser! So much for accurate information from Mini. I got built in Week 36...sitting at the dock into Week 38, and to think one more week (maybe) I could've had the H/K after all. It's all depressing really when you think about it.

Oh well, all new speakers and a USS8 sub...I'll be just as content....just no H/K bragging rights.

 

Now I'm torn about what to do. I think I'll maybe just let it go and proceed with my build. I'm not a huge stereo person and most of the time listen to the radio in the car, which is crackly anyway.

 

I'm same as you. I usually listen to the radio and my iPod, but I never blast my music and I'm not a huge audiophile. I thought the stock system was decent enough. Plus I'd rather hear the sound of the engine and exhaust rather than some fancy sound system blasting the same Black Eyed Peas song over and over on the radio!

 

I'm in the body shop! I guess the production line wasn't closed all week after all. Anyway, still scheduled to be finished with production on 9/13, so I should make that Morning Caroline boat.

 

Holy crap! My MA sent me an email earlier with the pricing on my car. I noticed the pricing showed a sport leather steering wheel, but no mention of the MFSW. So I sent a reply back just to confirm my MFSW was still standard, since it's really important I get it. Check this out...here was his reply:

The Multi Function Steering Wheel is standard - The Inquire I sent you doesn't list standard features. Your MINI departed the port on the 9th, and is on a luxury liner headed to California. The estimated time of arrival is September, 30th to Cali. It takes about two weeks to get it loaded on a truck and sent here!
