I'm new to the Mini world and so far I enjoy the car. My question is: Is there an idiot light that tells me when to do an oil change or do I go old school and do it off mileage? Thanks

 

I have a 2017 and its in the computer, warning you to change the oil. Its in the owners manual. My factory setting it 10k. But I'm doing it every 5k and more or less resetting the computer settings. If your car is used and you don't have the manual, go to the Mini site and find your manual.

Ditto, go by mileage. Mini say 10k miles is ok, I don't trust that. I do every 5k.

 

How are you guys doing the oil change? There is no room at all under the Mini! Just by looking from topside, I cannot even see the filter.

 

Every other oil change I pull the old oil out the dipstick tube. Depending on what MINI you have will determine where your oil filter is.

 

while it won’t hurt to change ‘early’ you can trust the oil reminder. There was a member here who had/has an ‘02 or ‘03 that changed via the system. His engine only lasted 300,000 miles before it needed to be rebuilt. How many 100k mikes are you planning on keeping the car?
