It is a Twin Scroll turbo just like the 2017 Mini's. Mini uses twin power, which sounds like twin turbo, but it's not.

Twin power is Mini/BMW marketing phrase that means twin scroll.

Isn't there? 2017's have a BMW B46 engine, but don't R60s have a Peugeot engine, of an entirely different nature?

On second generation the JCW engines have a twin scroll. And as pointed out earlier all of the F's are dual scroll. Dual scroll makes the turbo more efficient at lower RPMS and reduces lag. It is simply design change in how the exhaust manifold feeds the turbo.

The scrolls are where the exhaust gas is compressed down and forced over the turbine wheel. In a single scroll all of the exhaust from all 4 cylinders is forced down into a single scroll on dual scroll the manifold system is split and two scrolls are utilized. It is a more complex design and more expensive but it is also leads to improved fuel efficiency and response.

FYI: Superchargers are more efficient and you may see more of them in the future.

how do you mean Superchargers are more efficient? Superchargers take power to make power. My Cadillac CTS V at 13psi made 550whp and turbo CTS-V at 13psi make 650whp

In the future being able to learn and unlearn things will be valuable.

Does make sense that they are turbo ing 3 Cyl and not super charging em. Or supercharging anything for that matter since early 2000's.

Side note My Mini Countryman R60 Has been my favorite car to drive EVER, I drive 30k+ a year. Anyone else throw numbers up in their MINI's?
