13 Countryman Air Conditioning

I went and test drove a Mini Countryman this evening with hope of getting back into the Mini world. While on the test drive we had the Automatic climate control set to auto and its coldest setting, the air coming out of the vents wasn't very strong and whenever the car stopped the air stopped. When we began to move again the air would start again. Is this a function of the automatic mode?

Any other good things to look for during another test drive? Known issues?

Thank you to all for any help.

It's not the best air conditioning system I've encountered, but it shouldn't stop when the car does.

make sure the A/C button was engaged, otherwise it will blow ambient air

Thank you both for the quick response. I was reading the manual online tonight and might have found what was going on. In the manual it mentions that under high battery load the fan may reduce speed. I'm guess this might be it. I'll play around some more if we go back for another test drive. Thanks again.

My 2016 JCW CM A/C is weak, compared to my 2013 GP2. The air never gets cold and it takes forever to cool down. My GP and M4 get extremely cold and quickly. I wondered, is it something with my car or all Countryman's

2016 CMS here..... I notice a weak HVAC System as well. Additionally, I notive that it surges and dwells as we drive along, regardless of engine load and/or speed. I usually just keep it on MAX COLD, and constantly notice the sporadic temperature and fan speed fluctuations. It does not help that I live in SOFLO and its hot as ba!!z here....

I had a percolating (gurgling) noise and weak AC from day one with my new 2015 Countryman but the dealer found the issue. It was leaking refrigerant. There should be 1.01 lbs of r-134a. Mine had 0.4 lbs. It was leaking from the high side A/C line from the compressor to the condenser. They said it was a manufacturing defect. After the fix, the output temp dropped to 44 degrees F. Much better now.

I hope this is my problem as well. Seems like it barley works
