dealer software update to match 2015 r60 and r61s numbers?

"The mid-range Cooper S (r60s) has been enhanced by seven horses to deliver 190 hp, while overseas-only diesel models range from 90 hp to 143. Buyers will be able to choose between a six-speed manual or automatic and front-or all-wheel drive. There are also some new colors on offer and a host of optional equipment, all of which you can read about in the press release below."

the 2015 r60 and r61 seem to have 7hp more with the same set up, has anyone called mini and asked if they can update older r60-61s with a software to get the same output? i asked on facebook and 3 people said yeah if you take your mini in for services you will get the new update and more hp, but then people said nothing changed, just eu specs. id take 7hp more in a second even with my jb+

I doubt they would do it (fixing something that isn't broken), but it can't hurt to ask.

I second the fact I doubt they would change an older car to the higher HP software....
They WANT AND NEED you to BUY OR LEASE a NEW car....not keep your old one...
They sold you one a few years ago...the extra hp is to try to add value to a model in what is likely in it last year of production.....

can you at least make sense? its not a far out question to ask, if you have nothing of value to add why even post something stupid? every time someone posts about a part to gain hp do you jump in and say "i'm not the one chasing horsepower on the internet"? grow up.

people waste a lot of money on parts that supposed to give hp so i thought why not help myself and other r60 owners who could benefit from more power with a software update? i agree with zippy though.

Wish I had never offered my thoughts.....
I would hope that when one asks for an opinion, ALL opinions and thoughts are considered...and a thread is a bit of a no judgment zone....to shoot down a person who took time to offer a thought or two to help the op out...then shoot them down so hard, that is the height of immatureity.....perhaps worse than a (kinda funny) off the cuff answer that Franky made me smile....
Ouch...

i gave you respect and acknowledged your opinion, nothing against you. you gave a great opinion, pidge just said what he does not know and made an assumption, he could have worded it differently.

I'm guessing that you'd have to wait until 2015's have been on the lot for a few months and then you could get the software update around that time when you got a service done. Don't they typically do the software updates for all cars?

No, dealers often refuse to update the software unless you've complained about a problem that has been specifically fixed by the software. They are reluctant because updates take hours to apply and sometimes they have to retry several times before it works.

it is worth an ask.
the 1st service adviser that i dealt w/ was a complete douche.

the 2nd guy was really cool, and hooked me up w/ a convertible for the day.
I gave him raving reviews, and was very helpful.

When I have an oil change, and the firmware is out, it will not hurt to ask.
I was able to get the fw updated on an older car that I had just by asking. Also found the list of fixes and enhancements, and brought it to their attention.
