R60 new replacement led tail lights
new replacement led tail lights
Has everyone seen the new led tail lights for sale at outmotoring? Pretty nice. A Google search shows what looks like other versions availble overseas. The only issue that concerns me is if LEDs go out you have to buy the whole unit and not just the bulb. I wish there was a video of them working. Sequential turn LEDs would be cool. Looks like about 50 LEDs per side with clear or smoked options.

I think they look a little weird with the 6 rows of LEDs, as IMO they don't really go with the style or shape of the light.
But maybe that's me.
That's them. Yea there definately different looking. Google images show some with fiber optic looking horizontal lines. The outmotoring model seems to have the horizontal lines, but they do not show them lighting like the others shown on google images of countryman led tail lights. I like the fiber optic look better, kinda goes with the new model led fog lights.
Dectane-tuning.com has the fiber optic model. The description says it compatible with the on board computer, so I assume that means no coding. The picture of the back shows a plug that hopefully mean plug & play. It's wierd cause the site has English and German text.

OOOooo! OOOooo! You know those neat projector after-market splash lights for under the doors? Wouldn't it be cool if the lights in the back came up with a MINI logo shape?! With LEDs and fiber optics you could do just about anything...
I noticed those shortly after they were up on the OutMotoring site, but was disappointed because like pidge1114 said, they aren't really MINI style. They even seem a little "cheap" to me. Maybe generic is more the word I'm looking for, but it just looks like any LED tail approach—rows of LEDs rather than a LED compliment of OEM.
These are the LED tails for the R56:

Looks like a black version of OEM unlit, and even when lit, the LEDs made a red ring around the turn signal like the OEM did. Even the turn signal had that small union jack flag on the acrylic. It used the OEM turn signal bulb, but it was still overall a much more "MINI" look than the R60 version.
LED option is better than nothing, but I'm holding off until someone makes a light that's as close to MINI styling as that R56.. the union jack bit would be awesome too but I'll settle for just a similar look haha.

Think the Factory Black Line ones look very nice.
