Accesories for CMs "14 recommendation

Given that this is a newer year model (although I heard 2013 is exactly like the 2014 except for the bucket seats), i want to make sure I get the right accesories parts. Anyone can recommend perfect fit accesories or necessary ones?

Itried posting this on the Interior/Exterior forum but I do not have enough privelage too. Hope you guys are fine with me posting here regarding this.

Thinking of getting the ff:

1. Mats- front and rear (dont know if I should get OEM or Whethertech front liner mats.

Amazon.com: 2011-2013 Mini Countryman Black WeatherTech Floor Liner (Full Set): Automotive Amazon.com: 2011-2013 Mini Countryman Black WeatherTech Floor Liner (Full Set): Automotive

2.

Sun Shade (do not know what brand would be best),

Silling question but I just want to make sure - Will a sun shade be necessary for the car? Yes it is parked outdoor and it is exposed in the sun.. I just dont feel like having to put and remove sun shade each time, although if it will affect at some point in time when it is exposed to sun, then I would definitely get this.

3. UV ray clear tint - dont need darktints, plus that I am in CA, front can't be covered .. Just want sun protection. ANy ideas if this is good or stay away from these tints?

Any other recommandations you guys may have.

Would appreciate all your tips and feedback guys. I am just new and this is my first car. I also do'nt have much knowledge about cars etc.. =)

Thank you!

"For 2014 both the Countryman and Paceman will come standard with heated mirrors and washer jets, which were optional extras on the outgoing cars. For 2014 MINI is also doing away with the Countryman and Paceman's Center Rail system. In its place will be standard double cup holders located in the back seat. The Countryman's rear cup holders will include a 12V charging outlet while the Paceman's will include a 12V charging outlet and an iPod holder. The Countryman gains new rear seat padded armrests for 2014, and a bench seat will now be the crossover's lone rear seat configuration (buckets were previously offered). All 2014 Paceman models will come standard with MINI's Comfort Suspension. A Sport Suspension will remain on as a no-cost option."

As for accessories,
Mats: For winter, I prefer the weathertech with their slush holding ability, I have OEM for summer.

Sunshade: I have an OEM MINI sunshade. It is stored under my flat load floor and I have not used it for fall or winter. I intend to use it in mid-summer.

Tint: I cannot comment on the clear UV tint, but I did install darker tinted UV ceramic tint and it makes a big difference. (Oddly the same factory makes multiple brands -Pinnacle Formula1 and SunTek)

Stubby antenna: I just like the looks of a shorter antenna. I believe it may worsen reception but I have not really noticed.

Boot Mat: The OEM Mini mat does not seem to fit perfectly with the flat loading floor as the corners curl up. That said I like the extra protection for hauling anything.

Thank you for this info.

I did not notice my CM has 12 volts. I will have to check that out. Cool. I justp icked it up a day ago and havent really had the time to inspect everything inside.

Also, I live n the Bay Area. Very cool now but we do get some good sun in the morning. SO ill prob get the shade then like u recommended.

what ceramic tint do you mean? I do not have plans on installing htem myself. I will bring it to the shop. So will i buy and have them install it?

So should I just get all season mats? if so, what would you recommend?

I do have Flat Load floor, so get the boot mat even if it doesnt fit well? worth the extra cost?

I have the OEM rubber mats and think they're great. I got the dealer to throw them in, so I don't know how they compare in fit or price vs the weathertech mats. I've heard nothing but good comments on the weathertech mats though.

If you're going to get a sunshade, I'd get the OEM one or order from the company that makes the OEM one. I had a roll up one at first that was decent, but I really like the folding style better. It's a lot quicker to put up/take down. I've already had to start using mine this year. Supposed to be 70 here tomorrow in Albuquerque! The car is unbearable in the summer without it. Bay area, you might be okay without it most of the time. I lived in L.A. for awhile and the sunshade was nice but not necessary (except when the Santa Ana winds came in. Ugh).

Good to see some '14 CM on board! I joined only a month ago after purchasing my first mini 2014 CM. It's my daily commuter.

My first install was window tint all around. 35% side and 5% rear hatch.
As for floor mats, sticking with my stock carpet ones til it turns extra dirty or worn out. At that point, prob opt for weather mat.

As for other accessories, highly recommend the base roof rack system. I bought the eom mini brand from the dealer for about $180. This will give you quite abit of utility add on function later for bikes to cargo carriers. Not to mention, adds a coo look for CM.

I know this may not be a mini accessory, but I also have GoPro mounted on my windshield near dash for traffic recording and for the weekend canyon runs!

I would also recommend changing out the interior and license plate light bulbs with LED.

Hey Braldee,

Sunshade: plenty of options on ebay, amazon, autoanything, autoid, etc. The one I have folds up and has it's own storage bag. It's also made specifically for the Countryman. Sorry can't remember the manufacturer.

Tint: CA law allows you to put 35% on the front. As for ceramic tint it will cost more but is overall better quality.

Enjoy the "youification".

Floor Mats - I endend up going with the MINI All-Weather Floor Liners for the front and MINI Rubber Mats for the rear. I originally ordered Weathertech and did not like the hook fastening set up(without them...they will move front to back). I returned them and ordered the MINI Floor Liners. The MINI liners appear to be made out of the same material as the Weathertech's and are the same shape. I personally like the design better on the MINI liners (more modern and nice MINI emblem)and they are held in place just like the factory floor mats with velcro. I ordered my fronts from a MINI dealer on EBay for $87.00 and free shipping. The rear rubber ones were only $20.00 from the same dealer and are also great for the little use in my back seats. If you plan to use the back seats often, I would get the MINI Floor Liners as well as the sides come up alot higher and keep the elements in.

Tint - I went with a high quality carbon tint, Suntek CXP.

Here are the front and rear floor mats in the All weather version. They have a cool plank design and little nubs on the front rear section and I believe are made by weather tech. On the backs they are that plank design. They are also deeper then the standard MINI rubber floor-mats.

Kind of look gray in the picture , but they are black.

For the sunshade it does come in the MINI style and is easy to put up and take back down. Plus it comes with the MINI wings logo in the center. Easy to fold back up also. These just came out not too long ago for the CM.

Thanks and congrats on the '14 Countryman.

The car tint shop in my area does the regular tinting only..
Should i go for it? What do i tell them when i get this CM done?

They for sure dont do ceramic. The lady even said that it affects the antenna or something.. I am not sure what she meant by that...

If i got the regular clear uv tint, what would be the disadvantge wheras if i got the ceramic ones?

Iam not good with tinting and what types there are. I dont know what i really need for my car.. I just dont like to get tan while im driving...

When I bought the MINI all weather mats for my 14 Paceman the parts guy said that they were made by Weathertech. They have worked well through all the snow and nasty stuff this winter. They do not move like the MINI rubber mats I have in my 09 Clubman.

I highly recommend getting the windows tinted. These cars have a lot of dark plastic that gets hot in direct sun. The ceramic tint is better but we had just a good quality standard tint on our 05 and it lasted 9 years without fading or peeling.

I used to have a MINI sunshade but it was too expensive to replace and did not last any longer than the cheap ones I can get from other places.

Supposedly, ceramic tint does not impact your electronics in the car and does not turn purple (fade) over the years. For example, cell phone, radio, or navigation system (GPS) signals can be degraded with metallic tints. Look around at some tints on cars and you will see the purple fading or bubbling.

Guys,

I found a guy who can do ceramic.. Here is the type of film "Sun tech cxp"

he said it is ceramic. is this the best? and is this UV ray protection?

He gave m a prving of 540 for all of it , except sun room. Is this a good deal?

The other tint shop is offering 750 with a new Ultrasolar NANO film, better then the ceramic they claim from http://www.solargard.com/window-films/automotive

I dont now what to choose and what i need for the best....

Protector for top of bumper under rear hatch. They make some for just top that stick on. I opted for clear protector material. It covers top and wraps down bumper, even had cut outs for my back-up sensors. It has saved paint several times loading and when pups hop in and out.

I bought mine from Xpel online. Below is what it looks like.

Ordered the flim (came as a set of 2, since 1 went on good I have a back-up for future) I also purchased a hard applicator and a small bottle of pre-mixed Gel. I used a spray bottle I already had.

I watched a couple of thier videos and launched into it. This application is rated for a beginner. As they say in the video don't be afraid and stretch. This was key working over the lip and around the parking sensors. (they sell with and without sensor holes)

Took me about 15 mins and would be 1/2 that if I did it again.

In the picture above that is just some Gel I missed at the top joint when I was wiping up. If you were not looking for it you would never know it was there.

I have Xpel on both my MINIs but seen good Sun tek also as it tends to be a little more clear and they now offer a self healing like the Xpel.

I have the MINI standard rubber mats. Had 'em in the Clubman too, and they never moved a bit, so I dunno what was up with the OP's experience. If I could'a gotten the dealer to throw in the all-weather ones, I would have, but for free, I'm happy.

I use a sunshade 99.2% of the time. The .8% is when it's raining all day. I just see it as protecting the dash surface. Mine is the MINI one. Auto Sport sells one that's non-logoed that looks to be of the same construction, but the price is about the same. We have one of those for the wifemobile. There are shade inserts for the dual pane sunroof as well; I haven't done that, or felt the need. Others have voiced concern that you build up too much heat in the glass with those. Beats me.

After seeing the pix of the XPel film for the rear bumper, I'm going to do that.

I'd strongly recommend the film protectors for the headlights. Some recommend it for breakage prevention; If a board comes flying off a truck, it won't help, but it probably will against smaller stones, etc. But I did it to keep the headlights from weathering and turning hazy. I've done that on four vehicles so far with great success. You can wax the surface and bugs don't stick as bad, and it also makes cleanup easier.

for accessories for my '14....got Sirius installed, and the rear rubber boot mat.
Sirius is a must have for me, Pandora was cool too, just a better selection, and found my self listening to the same genres.

ceramic tint is awesome. had it in my audi a4 Quattro.

the oem rubber front and rear mats look nice.

may be a while for any serious mods, fixing up my house and ordered up an alienware.

So now I ordered cocomats and will have to wait a month or so before it arrives. What should I use while waiting?
Any temporary mats or cheap alternatives?
