Service intervals are decided by the computer depending on your driving habits. When you start the car, it'll show you miles and date for the next service (whichever comes first). The oil change counter starts at 9000 miles or one year, but may count down faster than actual miles. I don't recall the intervals for the other services.

The car will tell you when it's time for service but I like to do an extra oil/filter change in between the factory intervals. Also, I did an oil/filter change after 1200 mile break in period. To me it's cheap insurance.

+1. It is hard getting used to the computer handling notifications for service instead of consulting a manual like I have done for years..

We just had our 5000 oil change done by our dealer. $92 well spent, IMO. another 4000 or so and the next change will be covered by the service plan included in the price of the car.

As soon as I read in Mini's own documentation that the turbo operates at "extremely high temperatures", I knew oil changes were going to happen every 4500 to 5000 miles.

Mini only has to worry about my engine for 50k miles. I have to worry about it for the 150-200k miles after that

No, but be sure to use the right materials. There are only a few oils approved to use on this car and I would use a MINI oil filter.

Oil Changes

Mini says change the Oil every 15K is that wise. This doesn't sound right to me. I bought a package that includes Oil Changes at no charge for the 1st 100K. Is that why they say every 15K. Any help guys would be appreciated.
