New owners - Beware when pumping gas...
One of the dangers with having the gas cap on the left side of the car (I didn't say "driver's side", respecting our UK friends and others who drive from the right side of the car) and a somewhat shorter car is that when you pull into a gas station, you may frequently be confronted with the infamous door-denting pump protectors!

Remember to pull up just a bit further, and/or stay further away from the pump to allow for adequate clearance! Thankfully last night I wasn't in too much of a hurry and slowly opened my door, just barely tapping that damn black barrier. Thankfully, no damage done.
Would it kill stations to put some industrial padding on these things?

With my last Mini I opened the door carefully thinking I had enough clearance and hit the the very edge of my door leaving a small mark. After that I've got in a habit to park a little further from the pump just to be safe. Also I agree, a little rubber padding on the pump protectors would be nice.
