Yesterday I was moving the Mini out of the garage and I get a reduced power message.
I called Mini they said to have the car towed to the dealer on Monday. Has anyone had this before? Did you drive the car? It says it is okay to be driven but I don't want to drive the car if I don't have too.
My wife is so sad her car is broken. But she loves her rental. I took it for a spin and its a fun little car that's for sure, got it up on 3 wheels!
Its a tiny little car even compared to my R.
I have had that warning 4-5 times now. Normally I just power cycle the car a few times, and it goes away. One of the last times I had it into the dealer, they updated the ECU and it hasn't happened since.

The car can still be driven. Had it happen a couple of times. Eventually the warning clears on it own and the car runs normally. Since I had a small oil leak (the usual oil solenoid leak) I had it to the dealer last week. The VANOS solenoid was throwing erros causing the reduced engine power message. Replaced under warranty although I did need to find out what a VANOS solenoid was. For those interested, it is a variable valve timing device by BMW. Car seems to run better now.
Happened twice to me so far. Drove both times to the dealer. First time it was a tensioner. Second time it was the in-tank fuel pump. I personally don't ignore it, even if it "goes away".
