Seat Swap? A JCW or a hatchback's seat in a Ctm possible?

So I was felt that the seats are a bit too high, I wanna go lower as my legs attack the pedals at a bit of an angle. Turns out to be uncomfortable during long journeys. But it's not that bad, just not as comfortable or sporty.

So I was wondering if I could swap the seats for the R56 seats? What about the JCW buckets? Would it fit?

Or is there a way to sit lower? I have the steering wheel all the way out and the lowest position and feel too high still...

Thank you!

You do know that you can lower both driver and passenger seats, right? On the left side of the drivers seat (right side of the passengers) there's a lever that you can pump up or down to raise or lower the seat. It has a pretty decent range of adjustment. Just pointing it out because you didn't mention trying to adjust it yourself.

Yuppp! Have the seats in the lowest setting tooo. Or I'm just used to the sporty seat position in the r56? Haha

Just how tall are you? I'm 5'11" 220lbs, and with the seat all the way down I feel a little too low at times.

I'm only 5'8 but its more about the driving position for me, I like to sit low and as close to the ground as possible.

I'm 6' I think its the proportion of my body? I have long legs and short arms I believe? I have to sit closer to the wheel (Wheel farthest out) making my legs attack the pedals an uncomfortable position in long journeys over 2 hours. I believe going lower will solve this problem.... hope I can swap for the hatch seats or buckets so I can go lower!

I've got the same problem. Can't see some stop lights. Ankles bend at a sharp angle. Sliding the seat back some helps but makes the stop light problem worse and requires more arm extension.

The forward position of the roofline seems to be a MINI thing. The LightInSight stick-on fresnel lens appears to be the universal solution for the stoplight thing. Love it on my CMS and R53!

Their website says they are out of stock. I also checked MINIMania and Outmotoring and they, too, are out of stock. I guess I'd keep checking back with the Light-in-Sight website to see when they are back in stock.

I've just emailed Keith to get an availability update. I'll pass his response on in this thread.

Sorry,

The whole point of the CM seating system was a more UPRIGHT and higher seating position. Supposedly the design team was given 4 chairs and told to design a Mini around them.

Agreed! Being low and close to the ground is what I love about driving my Clubman. I'm only 5'6 and the driving position in the CMS feels awkward (even with the lowest seat setting). Maybe I can find a back massage gizmo for the CMS and forget that I'm sitting up so high.

I agree! I just traded my 07 S R56 for my S all 4 r60, I'm 5,10 and my ankles are taking a beating from the " up high, dangling leg " driving position. I'm so used to being hunkered down and the clutch pedal action being more of a in and out motion instead of a up and down as it is on my 6 speed R60. Really wish I could seat lower at a more sporty position, and it sux because I'm leasing mine so even if I could switch them out, I probably wouldn't invest the money in something I won't keep for long :(

I guess I am a bit mystified by all of this. I love the seating position and the visibility. Quite different from our R53 JCW. But, then again, I have my choice of which one to take each day.

I'm wondering which seats were chosen by those who feel they sit too high. We have the lounge leather, but perhaps the other seat choices cause a higher seating position.

The seating position is different from the Hatchback and the Clubman. We spent many test drives making sure the CMS fit both of us. I guess that's what test drives are for; to weed-out these kinds of incompatibilities. Our dealer was very patient with our many test drives and was about to charge us by the mile on the demos!

BTW - we even test drove the a friend's CMS with our GoldenDoodle to determine whether to go with bucket or bench rear seats. If I'm spending 30,000+, I'm going to make sure of everything!
