New Car Oops', Feeling Jinxed

So I have this new car and I'm obsessed with keeping it perfect but it seems like I keep having stupid oopsies in the darn thing.

2nd night of ownership I left the hatch open and tried to close the garage door on it (put a noticeable scratch in perfect straight line on the MINI hatch handle)

Same week got a crack/chip in the windshield (repaired) but still noticeable

Hit the garage with the side mirror trying to pull out...Knocked the mirror cap off and got a ding on it from it hitting the ground (In my defense I wasn't just backing straight up I have to back up at an angle cuz we have a 2 car garage and 3 cars so I have to pull out diagonally.)

Anyone else so concerned about keeping things perfect that you almost feel jinxed and you do stupid shizz to your new car?

I used to wipe mine with a diaper on an hourly basis for the first 80 days! Then it got nailed hard with hail. Since then I just don't seem to care as much!!

Attempting to keep her perfectly clean at all times (ha ha ha ha thru pollen season in Georgia) I took her to a hand car wash, and did not notice until the next day that there was a dent on the side of the roof! I cannot prove they did it--the only consolation is that it is rounded and should come out easily with paintless dent removal.

I feel your pain. Three weeks into owning mine, I scraped the passenger fender on the garage door. Luckily, it mostly just damaged the clear bra. But part of the paint and the plastic wheel well were scratched too. Oh well ... they can't stay new forever!

Driving down US 31 in Indiana going about 65 mph and I could see a truck further up heading southbound hauling gravel. I tried to keep a distance but sure enough, a piece of gravel came off, hit the road, and I could see it slow motion spinning and ding, hit the hood right on the stripe. No there is a little hole where the stripe was ripped and the ding to the hood under it.

So far I haven't been as protective/paranoid with Sally, but previously I was almost OCD about it. When I bought my Mazdaspeed I was living in an apartment and parked outside. I would dust and quick detail the car everyday before I left. Oddly enough no matter what I did to protect that car it didn't work because it was rear ended 3 times in the 2.5 years I had it. I guess now I still take steps to protect, parking farther out, washing/waxing, ect, but I am not overly paranoid because you can't control everything that other stupid people do.

Stone Hit

Mine isn't quite as bad as Nd3Boy but I was debating a clear bra and took a stone right under the passenger side headlight on the bumper cover.....oh well...guess I will skip the bra....I keep telling myself Patina is GOOD!

Patina ( /ˈpætɨnə/ or /pəˈtnə/) is a tarnish that forms on the surface of bronze and similar metals (produced by oxidation or other chemical processes); a sheen on wooden furniture produced by age, wear, and polishing; or any such acquired change of a surface through age and exposure. On metal, patina is a coating of various chemical compounds such as oxides or carbonates formed on the surface during exposure to the elements (weathering). Patina also refers to accumulated changes in surface texture and colour that result from normal use of an object such as a coin or a piece of furniture over time.[1]

Man, I picked up DREAD RED for the kids, she had a few miles and not a scratch... Next morning had her blessed by the priest, yup holy water bible whole nine yards.. .. So let me tell the tale of whoa...

Had about 6500 miles on her, I rounded up a bit...

Next day my son is driving her I tell him pull over to let some aggressive fart pass us and taps the curve with the front passenger wheel less than 3mm damage I have seen pin heads bigger than that mark and I lecture and rib him for the rest of the night.

So a week later I'm in LI where I normally make this u turn in my truck and never touch... What wheel do you think I touch and nearly 300mm of damage.

The next week I park come back to a hailstone size ding.... Sure it was my neighbors spawn.

Last Friday night, aggressive suv driver weaving up through traffic, noticed the dope to my far right drift into his lane as he is about to pass me on the right so I pull left, clip both front and rear wheels drivers side.... As he clips passenger mirror... And continues on full speed ...

My first payment check still hadn't cleared. Now I'm spooked to get the new shoes for her... I think I need to drink some holy water...
