CM Sitings Are No Longer Rare Here
We live in northern NJ, and obviously the dealers here are selling a lot of CM's. During the 8 weeks this spring while we were waiting for ours to arrive, I saw only a handful on the road here during that entire period. But in the last two weeks here, I've been seeing at least one a day. And most of the ones I've been seeing are brand new as they don't have permanent tags yet.
Same here in Portland OR. I live downtown and I see at least 2 to 3 a day. It fits the Northwest lifestyle well; smallish, all wheel drive and easy on gas. I remember when the new R56s came out, all the sudden MINIs where everywhere. Before that the R53/R50s were few and far between.

I saw two more on the way to the office this morning. And I'm not seeing the same cars repeatedly. Only one car that I've seen twice. But I agree on your comment on Manhattan. I work in commercial real estate and was in the city all day Wednesday...all over Manhattan, and did not see even one. Perhaps the size advantage of the hardtop is huge in Manhattan where there's generally no space.
The other thing I've noticed is that a disproportionate % of the cars I've seen with new tags in the last two weeks have been white (perhaps 50%!) When we first started looking at CM's I actually disliked the white color, but candidly it's grown on me to the point that it might very well be the color I would order today...with black roof, black stripes, black headlights and 18" black wheels. I've seen 4 cars with this combo, and I think it's really sharp.
I work downtown (near white house) and see a Countryman a day now. I still see more hardtops though - probably because Georgetown is filled with them.
Cruising through the city tonight while being a tour guide to my cuz and her friend we spotted 4, the only one that didn't respond was the smurf blue with black factory 17's that made a right on to seventh ave south bound from 42nd street heading east bound....

I can't remember the last time I saw a Countryman in the city. Probably the one I was test driving, and before that... As far as Clubmans, I've seen a few. It helps that there are some in my neighborhood (Washington Heights) that park on the street. I did see a Clubman in motion going down 9th Ave past 34th st.
Part of this equation might be that since I don't have a car, so I'm not actually spending too much time on the roads where I have an option to see cars.

Ive seen a white parked at the whole food in Paramus a red justa cruising down 17 south in hohokus and a white loaner from morristown on 30th between 9th and 8th in the city. I saw a blue one a l
Funny thing is despite their popularity the owners aren't joining the MINI clubs quickly. I've tagged and given out our club cards and see very few at events. Oh well, I'll keep trying.
