Change the door insert color?

Is it possible to change the color of the insert in the doors? I have the black but i want to change it to the coffee or the tobacco color to match the exterior. I want something to pop in the interior since it is all black. I want it to look like 3rd post down just a different color in this https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ob-thread.html
Thanks in advance!

I've wondered the same thing, especially after reading in other threads that the lighter colors show off the ambient lighting better. You really can't see it too well in the black doors, but it shows up well in the door handles and center rail. I await other responses to this.

This is the sole reason we went for the polar beige color line on our doors - we can see the fun lighting much better this way. Plus I think the contrast of the black/any other color looks much better then black/black.

It is possible -- although (according to my MA) it's a lot easier to do up front (when you order the car new). Changing the panel later is more difficult & involves added labor costs.

I wish they had a True Blue color line. I almost ordered my car in Surf Blue, even though I prefer True Blue, just because you can get the door panels in Surf Blue. I wonder if anyone will come up with aftermarket body colored door inserts.

Does anyone know about how much it would cost because for around 500 i would do it but i have a hard time thinking it would be that cheap. But really it doesn't seem that involved so i feel it might only be 500$ not sure though.

The tobacco is just as dark as the black. You can barely tell its brown and not black. Really wish I had a different interior color

You could buy 4 new door panels and change over all the hardware and components from your original doors. Shouldn't be that hard to switch everything over. Its gonna be a little more than the $500 you mentioned but its an option if you really want to change it. Good luck.

There is such a thing as "vinyl paint" made for painting fabric and vinyl.

I would just plasti dip the parts you want to change. Its inexpensive and can be temporary if you dont like it.

That's just a loose piece of material that can easily be lifted out and replaced.

I agree, also the reason I went for polar beige inserts and I liked how it matched the standard beige liner!!

Hmmm, that duplicolor vinyl paint seems interesting. Not sure if I would have the guts to take apart my door panels though.

Well I just talked to Scottsdale Mini parts wholesale dept. told me that the insert can not b ordered separately. Was advised that one would have to order the whole door panel with the colored insert. Insert colors are black, silver, red, beige, tobaco, and blk/white checkered. Front door panels are $326.52 "each" and the rears are $290.20

There is also a company out there called bumper plugs.com that do this type of color match on stock oem parts. I talked to them a few days ago and was told that a customer would need to remove the stock insert and send it to them for the color. They also advised that as far as the large gray plastic ring around speedometer and air vents are a different type plastic and they have had bad results on those parts. They usually do color match parts for porsche and Ferraris and looks awesome.

Check them out.

Hope this helps
