My Knock-off Cell Phone Mount

Sorry Craven Speed, but $100.00 for your mount was just too much. I decided to just make my own for about $35.00 (could have gone even cheaper, but wanted to try out the new RAM Scissor Mount).

parts...

with the Galaxy Nexus on board

Very happy with the result. The RAM Mount is great, solid as a rock, and will probably last for decades. Shown with my Escort Live running which will be my next post........

Looking good!

I got myself a ProClip mount (been using them for years, and love them). Will post pictures soon as I'm all set up !

hey, that's cool, I'm about to take delivery soon. Right now I'm using one that hangs on the vent, not sure if that will fit into the CM's round vent.

PS, mine is a galaxy nexus too

I use RAM mounts on the motorcycles and the Miata...didn't know they made an X-mount as well, great idea.

Looks like you fabricated an "arm" to use the behind-the-tach screws, as Craven does? Just metal strip, drilled appropriately? Any tricks / hints on the fabrication?

I know I have an extra base and arm lying about already...hmmm.

Yeah, I mimicked the Craven Speed mount by attaching the long metal bar on the right to the top screw in the tach and supporting it with the short metal bar attached vertically to the bottom screw and the long metal bar. The sheet metal screws and washers for spacers attach them to the tach like the Craven one.
When I get some time I will probably do a write up in the how to section.

Disregard the middle bar with the twist in it. I did that twist myself for another idea that I did not go with.

Did you ever get a ProClip installed? Pics???

I'm frustrated that my phone is under the e-brake handle and hard to use when plugged in for Mini Connected. Looking for a more elegant solution to hold it up where I can see it and touch it.

what are you needing to access while driving? Most anything you need to do while driving should be through Connected.

I'd like to be able to easily turn on or off Pandora, as well use my Tom Tom app (and see the screen for navigation).

I stumbled upon this today...looks like they need money to get going. But I am curious how it would work with the center rail.

Interesting...

The one problem I see is the need to include the second cable that provides full A/V integration.
