How long for production after getting an order in???

I ordered mine on Monday last week and its still not listed for production - I've seen a posting or two that some got into the line within a few days and others up to a couple weeks. What's the average delay? HELP!

I think it just depends on when the factory is slated for its next production run and where you fall in the queue. Hopefully for you it's soon!

Don't fret. I ordered my Mini 16 days ago and it still has not moved into production yet. Sigh.

I think the real question is how long does production last?!? Haha... mine is in the first stage of production according to the nice human I talked to at ask mini... The robot still says scheduled for production and the owners lounge website still says on order!... Maybe try talking to the real people and not the robots?

Yes calling is always best. I called a few days ago and was told the website is usually a week behind (at least) in information. So calling gives you the true status of your car.

You are definitely correct, sir!!!

I just got off the phone and the 866-ASK-MINI guy was very friendly and he verified the website is at least several days slow - my mini is scheduled for production now!!! Woo hoo!!! Thanks a heap for that info!

I just called too - the woman said it was now "scheduled for production" - with no actual known production date.

Sounds like it! We can go through the agonizing process of waiting together. When they told me 8 weeks I had hoped for less - but sadly it seems like it's a pretty standard time table.

While it only takes about 14 hours to build a Mini, actual start of production is highly dependent on a number of factors. The likelihood of your cars being built on the same day is quite low.
But it's fun to speculate. It's probably best not get too excited early because the process as a whole can get strung out over months depending on model ordered.
I ordered a Mini Cooper Hatchback, Christmas week and am taking delivery next week.
8 weeks for a Mini Cooper Hatchback. Built in Oxford, UK

Countryman are built in Austria. "Unlike the normal Mini range, the Countryman is not manufactured in Oxford, England, but in Austria by Magna Steyr, making it the first of the BMW era Minis to be manufactured entirely outside the UK.[5]"

YMMV!

Good to have all this info! I'd special-ordered a domestic years ago, and there was...nothing. Submit the order with deposit, the dealer will call when they get it "in a few weeks'. "No", we can't tell you anything in the meantime. That was actually easier in some ways, nothing to think about, check up on, etc.

I'm about to finish my second week, so I did give the ASKMINI folks a call. My agent was very friendly, as advertised, and I got a grin out of his talk with me. In reality: he didn't have information beyond what was posted (and I didn't really expect any, it's early) but he framed it in the most positive way. "<happy voice> It's scheduled for production, so it should be starting soon (but there's not an exact date)...we should have more information late *next* week, or just thereafter".

I think it breaks down to: once a VIN gets assigned, it's pretty much "showtime" after that w/r/t getting the actual build accomplished; then, a bunch of variables to get it on a boat and sailing one or more of the seven to bring it here.

Staying tuned, but trying to avoid obsession!

Don't listen to Taosman!!! I'm positive we're on the line together - I can feel it in my MINIDNA!! LOL

Hey, where are you anyway - your name would suggest NOLA but then heated seats? I don't think so... I'm in Austin TX and my GF is cajun so we love everything NOLA.

I agree - we'll say they're together since it seems like these things go in clusters and it's easier to wait it out with someone who is in the same timetable. I'm east coast mid Atlantic - but New Orleans is our favorite city in the USA too.

p.s. Got the rear bench for our dog as well.

Yes, I wouldn't say its misery - this wait - but still the company helps!

I grew up in Va - lots of family back there. Love Austin though. I'll have to drive mine back and visit!
