EZ-Pass/ FasTrack Mounting in R60?

*** If this is posted elsewhere, please redirect me. I searched and ended up with nothing ***

My Fellow Countrymen,

Has anyone successfully mounted an electronic toll device (EZ-Pass, etc) on the back sunroof panel? We did this on our R53 and it worked well. It was well documented for the older cars, I don't see anything about if for R60's.

If not there, is there anywhere else other than right on the front window where it looks terrible?

Thanks!

Where do you live? Here in CO, we've transitioned from the big ugly box to a flat ~2"x3/4" sticker that affixes in the corner to eliminate the need for a battery. Might be worth checking if your toll collector has something similar?

Guess you can always throw it on the dash when needed and store it when not in use, but I don't know if that's practical for your situation.

I use a cheap suction cup holder so it can easily be removed when you don't plan to use it.

We are still using the 3"x3" or so square white box. I think I still have a suction cup case I can try...

Thanks!

EzPass has a exterior tag that is black and mounts on your front plate. It's about 6in x 1.5 in.

I have it on my white countryman and I think it looks much better than the 3x3 square.

They are free for the asking from EzPass. (and you don't need to return your old transponder, so you can keep that as a spare.)

If you want me to take a pic for you LMK.

The tolltags we have down in texas are ugly, so I mounted mine on the front right corner of my sunroof, works like a charm and it doesn't stare @ me everyday.

No. Unless your E-ZPass® is installed exactly as shown in the E-ZPass® Customer GuideBook, it may not be "read" by the E-ZPass® antenna. Placing the transponder on the sun visor, the rear-view mirror, the dashboard, the seat, or in your hand may work occasionally but will not work consistently. Install the transponder exactly as shown in the instructions on page 3. Transponders installed incorrectly or not at all can result in toll-evasion violations, administrative fees or delays at the toll booth. In addition, customers subscribing to discount plans may be charged full fare for these transactions if their transponders are not installed properly, or are not installed at all.
Maryland EZ Pass seems to want you to put it exactly where they tell you to put it.

In the Bay Area it seems that as though FasTrak references the lincense plate and you don't even need it in the car.
I used to have a toll tag for each car but experienced two break in's back to back where my FasTrak tokens were stolen. Not worth it. I did not replace the stolen toll tokens and I just have one that is kept in a car that is garaged 100% of the time. The tolls get debited based on license plate and to be honest I have no problem giving FasTrak a little extra work and not have to deal with vandalism, theft, and the resulting insurance claim.
I did away with them due to theft, but there's no reason not to do it for looks.

What he said. Just associate the FastCrap with your license plate, and don't even keep it in the car.

Here in PA we have a ugly white EZ pass. I moved it to the rear sunroof right behind the center light, works flawless. Its only visible to the rear passengers and only a little bit sticks out. Since you already tried this in your other Mini you shouldnt have a problem finding the spot.

I have the white brick mounted behind the rear view mirror, where it's generally well obscured from my view, unless I'm on the outside looking in... Is that what you're worried about?

I painted the white box black. It's mounted behing the mirror. It blends nicely next to the black housing for the rain sensor.

In PA as well, did the same thing. Have not heard form EZ Pass yet, so it must be working.

Hid it under one of the Chili Red Cobras stripes over the top of the car!

Here's where I stuck mine, under one of my bicycle slips.. wasn't intentional but no problems so far.. although I don't drive it open on the highway as the rack makes a bit of noise.

I'll be in Dallas in few weeks and will test it on the Toll Road @ 635 (driving from San Antonio) hopefully the moronic thermostat issue won't yellow engine light me again like it did when I drove from Canada.
