Key Fob

Okay....have had my car for a few days now and he runs awesome. Have nothing to complain about the way he handles himself and also have no issues with the run flats. It does feel a little bumpy at times but I am used to it after driving a truck for years.

Anyways, can you all tell me what kind of key chain you use for the key fob? I find the hole pretty small for any key chain I currently have.

Thanks.

I use a mix of key chain parts for mine... A key chain carabiner from MEC and then another extra split ring to hold my MINI wings emblem.

I didn't like the metal wire piece on my keychain so I use it to hold my luggage tag and works great.

I went to local Tandy Leather and got some smooth scrap leather. I also got some rivets with punch tool. Cut a strip aboout 3/8" wide, wraped it into the key fob and used the rivet to fasten it. You can add a key ring as well so it is one item. You can probably get snaps instead of rivets but I'm not sure the snap will fit through the fob eye.

I'm seeing these key fob covers on ebay http://www.ebay.com/itm/280726268849...84.m1497.l2649

You can also pey $25 or more for one from some of the online Mini shops.

This one might just keep you from returning to your car and finding all the windows down.

Leather could be better quality, but pretty good protection for the key.

I use it quite often although I haven't had much luck sharpening it. The steel seems pretty soft. But either way highly recommended to have it.

I now have two as another came, complete with a enw pair of wings, in a goodie package just after Xmas.

I don't use it on my fob...too bulky (with the wings weight plus any keys added) for my liking.

So what do you use with your fob? The fob in itself is very bulky and I am not use to using one. The fob is loose in my bag which I find on the bottom of my bag with the other key chains I have.

Other than the nice look to it, I find it actually helps me keep hold of the fob...I used to drop the bare fob a lot before I put that on there.

Where did you get your dog tag printed? I've seen these available for actual dog collars but didn't think about it for my key chain.

There's a do-it-yourself machine at the local outlet mall. I would think you could find them on-line.

I just added it to my keys, they are on a regular round ring, no tags, no identifying info. They are bulky enough without adding more bulk with fancy stuff.

After reading everyone's responses I did just what you said. I added it onto an key ring which works fine. It's just so bulky but I guess I will have to get use to it. Thanks.

I use the fob by itself. It's big enough that it's not like carrying a single key around, my pants pockets have enough crap in them already, and I don't like having a bunch of stuff dangling around the dash while I'm driving.

I got this steering wheel key ring http://item.mobileweb.ebay.com/viewi...id=47068097101

It allows me to remove the Mini key/remote and keep keys in pocket.

Where did you get the leather key thing? I have been looking for one.
