I just called my mini dealer and he said that if your mcs is to be recalled you will get a letter by the end of jan to come in and set up a time to get everything fixed, also he said that you might want to park your mini outside b/c there has been 6 reports of them catching fire in the garages after cooling down. So I prob wont thats why we have insurance . So i will just have to wait and see

^^^That's what I've heard also, maybe even into Febr.
I think there have only been like 12 instances of fires and they may or may not have been due to this cause (probably so though). I wouldn't sweat it. If it hasn't done it on my 07 yet it probably will never happen but I'll get it fixed after I get the letter.

Already a thread about this below:
https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...he-recall.html

Approximate chance an affected car will have a fire: about 1 in 20,000.

It's all over the place here in NAM. Your car qualifiies so you'll be getting a recall letter later this month but most likely in Feb.
I wouldn't sweat it too much.
It's been in the news as well.
Actually, my dealership sent me an email explaining it and to wait for the letter since at the time Mini didn't have the specifics as to what they were going to do. They do now though.

I heard it was Countryman's built BEFORE March 2011. If that's true, my May build should be ok...I guess.

Actual bulletin shows:

2011 / Cooper s Countryman Nov 2010-Jan 2011
So, if yours is Mar 2011 I'd say you are excluded.
