Power Driver's Seat??

Just wondering....

Anyone ever hear about MINI possibly considering offering a power driver's seat as an option on the Countryman? I have a R56. Also a BMW X3. Wife drives the X3 most the time. Down the road could consider a Countryman though not sure which car I would sell. But wife would hate having to manually adjust seat height, the seat back, etc, and mirrors each time she got in the vehicle.

I would think a power seat with memory for 2 positions (with mirror memory) would be an option many would consider as often "signficant other" also drives the car.

If the MINI was a car that my wife and I switched back and forth between, the memory power seat would be a big deal, but I drive it almost exclusively so the manual seat isn't an issue for us. However, I do like just pressing the #2 memory button in her RX 350 on the rare occasions that I drive it.

It would be totally custom, no MINI has come with a power seat, let alone memory positions to date.

While the fact of a $38K vehicle without at least one power seat is rediculous in this day and age, I can see the point. The CM is already a bit of a porker, you have to cut weight wherever you can. Then you have to consider MINI's attitute on over-blowing everything. If they did it, it would be a 23 way, up-down, vibrating, back-and-forth, tilting, spinning, monster of a seat contoled by a logic system and toggle switches in the overhead console. And with lighting and a tie-in to the MINI Connect system.

Sealy - Who would like to see the slide out thigh support from BMW in the Sport option package.

Ditto on Rum 4. But now with our 3rd MINI to be a shared ride and to join the family very soon, maybe the memory option would be helpful. Our seat adjustments vary considerably.

In addition to that, I saw a snip on Top Gear where the M5 in sport mode has actuating side bolsters that hug the driver when they turn hard. Not sure if it does it by speed and steering wheel angle or a G-meter, but could get annoying to have your love handles constantly kneaded. That's BMW for ya.

I asked the dealer about that. He said that Mini's line is "This vehicle has roots as a rally car. Race cars don't need power seats."

I can't tell you the number of times I heard people asking how to adjust the seats in the MINI loaner cars where I used to work because they had gotten used to power seats.

It would def. be a nice comfort to have, esp. with a memory feature as well. I don't mind when somebody else drives my car, but it def. is annoying to have to reset the seat position and mirrors.

On a slightly un-related note; i'm still waiting for MINI to come out with a solid sunroof shade.
