2012 Countryman S Roll Call (good, bad and the ugly)
I want to hear about the 2012 Countryman (especially ALL4s). I've seen on the board lots of people taking delivery of 2012 Countryman's. Lets hear what you like about them, what problems have you had (dealer fix and how long it took), general quality and impressions. Also would you buy it again?
I have only had my countryman s for 3 days and absolutely love it. I love driving it and even on low speeds it's fun and quiet. My dealer was awesome, I got the all4 stripes on it today for 100 bucks, it's the middle stripes. I went from a Honda crv to this so yeah, a huge difference.
I don't get why more people don't buy them, I have seen only 3 or 4 since march.

Had mine since Oct 26th. Still getting used to it, but no probs so far, and it's FAST. But it's not quiet; it's a noisy little beast, almost like a diesel! Love my H/K, and the car handles well. Sport seats are a little uncomfy, but love the heated option....Still feeling it out, but it's a hoot to drive, and gets a lot of looks. Not sure if it's worth the 30K though. Time will tell. 2012 S, non all4......
Lovin' it since the first day...only problem is with the run flat tyres. really noisy and harsh. other than that everything is extremely perfect. tons of power, tons of grip with the ALL4. perfect interior lightings, perfect front mean looking kinda face.
If you ride on those "cinder block" tires until they need to be replaced, I guarantee you will kick yourself in the butt for waiting when you put the non-RF's on. I swapped out my non-RF's with 150 miles on the car. I had RF's on a 335i I recently sold and I swore I would never drive on those things again.

I have not found any all seasons non run flats in the stock size (205/55R17) while searching the web, they seem to be all summer performance tires?

Replaced the RFs on my car within the first few weeks of ownership. Now I keep a few cans of slime and a pump in the back. Couldn't be happier.
All4 S Auto
Mine is an 11 but the differences are too slight to matter.
6200 miles so far and not one issue. No chrome peeling, no "reduced power" message, just get in and go. Just got lucky or perhaps that is most of the cars. Oil changed at 5200 miles with Mobil 1, 0w40.
I don't autocross but I did race motorcycles for a long time. The S has plenty of power for me. I don't poke around but it is hard to use all of the available power in town. I have taken two trips, one a round trip of 900 miles, the other 700 miles. The car is quiet on the highway even with wind from the side. I love how it handles, my only complaint is the RF tires. I will most likely change them in January.
Things I would change, better cup holders, I would not mind a backup camera.
Mini connect works but it could work better.
It has been a great car, my wife wants her own.

All4 S, auto, all options except navigation. Royal Grey, tobacco interior trim.

Yap, would definitely buy it again. And, it will be the JCW version, so we'll see about that. I love the room inside, it's unbelievable how much room it is in there for passengers that is. Getting in and out of it is a breeze, just the right height. And, of course the motoring experience is, I think an experience like no other...
Had mine since the end of October. Went from an Audi A4 (which I LOVED) to 'Lil Red (which I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE!). She's a blast to drive, and so darned cute that I smile everytime I look at her! We still haven't seen proper winter weather here on the East Coast, but I'm looking forward to see how she handles when the snow finally flies.
What don't I like?
1. Teeny Tiny Gas Tank. I drive about 650-700 miles a week and it seems like I'm ALWAYS stopping to fill up.
2. The usual (cup holders, run flats - which will be swapped out).
3. The fact the all the doors do not unlock when I remove the key from the ignition. I have to always remember to hit the All Unlock button. I'm sure, in time, this will become an ingrained habit, but I'm not there yet.

I picked up mine Monday, December 12th, so I have had it a little over a week and I love it. One little hiccup was that it had to go back to the dealer as one of the windows went down but wouldn't go up. The dealer had it corrected, although I haven't been brave enough to try that window again...within a day and gave me a non-S automatic Countryman to drive while it was in the shop.
I was a little worried about driving a manual again as I live in the DC area. The second day I drove to work there was a lot of traffic and it took me 90 minutes to go 8 miles. I figure if that didn't bother me, I am good with my choice!
I agree with the road noise comment, but I love the stereo and the Nav. I am only using my iPhone with bluetooth currently as I have my iPod connected. I can't wait to play with the apps and try MOG.

Had mine for about 2.5 weeks. The car gets better and better as it is broken-in. Initially, I had to brake quite hard to get the pads to bite, but now it's fine. Same with the clutch. Initial pick up was very grabby and hard to launch smoothly from rest, now it's very easy to get the car moving. Probably a combination of break-in and getting used to the car
Minor complaints
1. The windshield sprayers are unchanged from the previous generation Cooper
. They don't mist the washer fluid across the windshield, it's 4 distinct streams, and it feels like I waste a lot of fluid just trying to get it in the right place.
2. Seat warmers too hot (?). On level 1 it's hot, and level 3 you can cook an egg
3. Light sensor not working too well (?). My headlight system is always on unless it's super bright outside without a cloud in the sky.
I put question marks (?) on some, since these are subjective observations and may not be an issue to you.
I'm actually happy with my gas mileage, and I only have ~1500km on the odo. My previous car would get about 500km on a $80cdn fill up of 91 octane (BMW 335i). The Countryman will reach 500km as well on a $54cdn fill up. Same range, smaller tank, but MUCH better fuel economy

I went up a size on my MCS (215/45/17) and they work and fit great. I have Continental Extreme Contact DWS. Only driven them for about 450 miles so it's too early to really review them, but so far I like them a lot.
I have a slime kit (air pump, plugs) I got on Amazon. Of course we also have the Roadside Assistance if it's a newer car.
does the roadside assistance cover a flat too? (i have AAA so i can ditch that if MINI roadside covers similar things) thanks
