Personality Noises

I have had my Countryman S for a couple weeks. Big fun!

But as I sit in my garage I find it makes some of the strangest noises for the longest time after I have driven it, and sometimes even if I haven't driven it. A click from under the hood, a fuel pump sound when I open the door. A ever so faint "buzz" from the speakers now and then (you gotta really be listening for this one). And so on.

When they say the cars have personality they aren't kidding.

As long as it doesn't fart, you're good

Yup, they make a lot of weird sounds. Kinda worried about how long the battery will hold up, I haven't been home to start it in 2 weeks.

Don't sweat it...the car "goes to sleep" after 10 minutes or so. The sound ou hear when you use your key fob or open a door is the car "waking up". The strangest thing to me is if/when you rotate your tires - get back in the car - and start it up...the car kind of stands up, straightens out it's shoes and settles down. Now that's a weird feeling...kind of freaky the first time it happens.

My 06 330i would give me a low battery warning after about that length of time. My 07 650i can only go about a week. I think the super short time on that car is due to the keyless entry which is always "on" as well as the alarm. The first clue I've gone too long is the clock needs to be reset. I usually just keep the car hooked to a battery tender if it's going to sit for several days and it seems to take care of the problem. Needless to say, it's not a good airport parking car.

One would hope the MINI has less electronic junk constantly draining the battery, but in reality you can equip the MINI with the same gizmos. Two to three weeks of sitting around is probably about the max on any new car.

I had the speaker buzz too. I kept checking the door in the rear thinking it was slightly ajar and I was hearing outside road noise. Weird.

Hmm...can't wait to rotate the tires.
