Full spare tire

After a run in with a big pothole in NYC, and a costly tow back to the dealer decided to install a full spare

( the trunk is full of work tools)

Not sure it does anything for the look of the car, that's for sure.

I wanted to know if the CM has the same space as the Clubman in the boot to accomodate a spare "donut". The clubman has provisions to put a donut under the flat floor. This will be a good option for longer trips for those that go away from the runflats.

It's got that Land Rover "out back" look about it. Not sure I like it tho.

Negative. I was hoping that as well, but I compared with my wife's Clubman and no dice. There's a muffler in the way in the Countryman. I think a spare may fit under the load floor in the boot, though.

The donut would have to be absolutely teeny to fit under the boot floor in the back of a CM. I'm still on the lookout for one that might.

That's actually what I meant, under the load floor in the boot. Do you think it's big enough for a donut spare tire?

Agree. But IMO this is an ugly solution and only something I would consider if my livelihood demanded that I be on the road ASAP in case of a flat.

OP: Why did you have a costly tow to dealership? MINI towing is free.

If you have AAA or certain credit cards, you could tow to your residence and not have to buy from your dealership. Tire slime, compressor and a tire plug thingy can fix a lot of punctures. Just curious that's all.

I was in NYC the mini dealer closest to me had no loaner cars. Had to call my dealer which had the car. It took them 2 week to get my tire.

Slime would not have worked, there was a chunck of tire missing from the side. The tire was flat.

Had AAA but they pay for first 5 miles.

it might not look good. But do not want to go thru that again.

Had to cancel my work calls to get it towed.

They have a donut listed for the Countryman on Minimania (http://new.minimania.com/web/Item/G2.../InvDetail.cfm), but it won't fit under the floor in the boot based on what they have posted. It's about 5 inches too small to fit that diameter.

Specifications:
Wheel Size: 4.0J x 17 ET 18
Tire Size: 135/80
Sidewall Height: 4.25"
Section Width: 5.31"
Overall Diameter: 25.50"
Circumference: 80.12"
Revs per mile: 790.78
Weight: Approx. 29 lbs

Anyone know which BMW model uses the compact spare of that size (4.0J x 17 ET:18)? I'm finding one that is listed at 4Bx17 ET:18, but I'm not sure what the J vs B means in the BMW code, could it be the hub size? The 4Bx17 is listed as being used on various 5 series sedans.

$165 at OutMotoring. BTW, its a 5x120 pattern for the Countryman. It does not fit under the floor, but does fit laying flat on top of it by just moving one rear seat up just one notch.

Thanks, I may order one of those. I was hoping to find one at a wrecking yard locally off of a BMW, though.

I carry a donut off a Chevy Cobalt in our R53, not sure it will fit your car, but doesn't hurt to check.

EDIT: sorry, forgot about the 4 lug vs. the 5 lug difference

I got a donut from a wrecking yard (off a Cooper) for my R52, but the Countryman is a 5 hole wheel and only seems to match some BMW's.
